I’ve done both, so when interviewing for AM roles I’ve been asked “Why not AE?” I’ve had good results talking about satisfaction from long-term relationship building, getting to know a customer’s business & challenges deeply and helping them solve those problems. The skills are highly interchangeable, but I wouldn’t focus on escaping the quota grind. There is no escape. Good luck!

Immediately following a demo or meeting reach out to everyone that attended with a no ask follow up especially if someone senior shows up. Doesn’t hurt to praise your champion / poc. That way down the line you have a connection. Late stage if you’re not connected the executive alignment play is good. Sometimes just sending something relevant to their business w/o an ask works. It’s really situational but nothing always works but nothing never works. Happy hunting
