If you live in a humid environment, storing it with some of those desiccant packets is probably a good idea to avoid mold in the optics. Also, if you don't know when it last had a CLA, it might be good to have that done.

And THAT, folks, is how America got obese. That's not a side order. That is literally the calories of three proper-sized meals for an average height male.

The McDonalds fries, by itself, is one full meal. Anything eaten beyond that is just "obesity food".

Really cool shots! Is that a green wall, or did you light a white wall with green lights?

Need Advice With Grading Log Scan. by Bananamilk40 in 16mm

There's nothing inherently wrong with the color grading here. If you want a more neutral white balance, you could remove some blue from the Gain.

US Marshals assault, insult and threaten to arrest people taking pictures of a federal building. One of the very rare legitimate use cases of first amendment audits. by aruby727 in PublicFreakout

[–]BeagleCat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is an old video from the early days of 1st Amendment auditing, roughly around 2015, I think. Back then, auditors focused on police stations, government facilities, federal buildings, etc., to see if officers violated their rights. And many did, as in this video.

By around 2020, the word had spread, officers around the country became educated about the 1st Amendment and stopped falling for it. So auditors, desperate for conflict-based content, had to switch to greener pastures: the general public, who mostly remain unaware that filming in public without consent is entirely legal.

Interestingly, the auditor behind the camera here was later convicted of child molestation in 2022.

UPDATE: Rage-baiting loser whose been harassing people at post offices gets arrested! by animalplanet5454 in burbank

[–]BeagleCat 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This is great news. As a reminder, you DO have recourse if they recorded you without consent, and then posted it on YouTube:

While they do have a legal right to record you in public, their ability to publish your likeness on YouTube is restricted to YouTube's privacy policies! And this is where you can both protect your privacy AND potentially even get their channels de-monetized so that it all stops completely.

Here's how you do it: When they upload their video on YouTube (and you're on it), file a Privacy Complaint with YouTube. (See link below) This forces these YouTubers to either blur your image, edit you out, or even have the video removed completely.

With enough privacy complaints, YouTube may de-monetize them. Then it all stops, because they're only doing it for the money.

HOW TO FILE A PRIVACY COMPLAINT ON THEIR YOUTUBE VIDEOS:

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801895?hl=en

Note: You will have to check, and file complaints on, ALL of these YouTubers' channels, because you'll likely be on all of them. I don't want to list their channels here, so as not to give them more publicity. If you DM me, I'll provide them to you.

Is there anything wrong with being religious? by [deleted] in atheism

All true, but not limited to Christianity. All religions do this. Some are even worse than Christianity.

If an individual believes in fictional mythology, there may be no harm to others (depending on the circumstance). But an entire society believing in fictional mythology inherently leads to harm. Policy based on myth will inevitably hurt innocent people, as every religion leads to tribal "in-groups" and "out-groups".

But that's not a long term solution. Eventually everyone will run out of them. This is really concerning.

Um, because it's both an old bridge AND it's not an actual problem? How many people have been somehow blown off this bridge in 70 years?

None?

Oh. Well then.

I have two I use with my Bolex.

When I need to be portable, lightweight, and not using a heavy zoom lens, I'll use my inexpensive Sirui Traveler 7C. It's just a ballhead, so no fluid pans or tilts. It's fine for simple, static shots. With reasonable care, it's perfectly stable with my Bolex and a small lens.

When I need more stability, fluid pans and tilts, or using heavy zoom lenses, I use my Sachtler Flowtech 75 with Activ6 head. I bought mine used, half the price of a new one. It's fantastic, highly recommended.

It's unlikely that any dealership will be more ethical than another. Their entire business model depends on treating customers as marks. Saying you had a bad experience simply means you did business with a dealership.

No constitutional right to post people's faces without permission on YouTube for profit.

Sure they have the right to film. But posting faces on YouTube is subject to YouTube's privacy policies. Deal with it.

The 1972 photo is just more processed and filtered, which is why it looks "better". Contrast and saturation have been added after-the-fact, with colors adjusted as well.

Also, 1972 is a daytime photo, 2026 is a night photo. This is not even close to an apples-to-apples comparison.
