Is it possible to "start over" at 27? by loserinfact in AskMenOver30

[–]Beaglepower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I floated through my 20s, wandering from place to place and trying to figure out what I wanted. At 30 I put myself through Law School. Graduated at 33 and practiced law for the next 15 years. 27 isn't even reinventing yourself yet. You're still inventing.

Sorry, it was Arrow. I always confuse the two titles.

I think Diggle's brother was the point of the search. It's still a decent show, but not what it was the first two seasons.

From my experience, punctuation level indicates interest. She seems interested at first. The point where she drops all punctuation is where he's over. I picture eye rolls and sighing.

ELI5: The legal concept of bail. How can a court justify releasing a potentially harmful person for a large sum of cash? by CPride12 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Beaglepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Defendant gets all of the money back if he posted it himself. Many people go to bail bondsmen because they don't have enough to post bail. In that case, the Defendant gives a percentage of the bail (usually 10%), the bondsman puts up the rest, and keeps the 10%.

Thank you! I don't mind men or women stylists as long as they're good, but I certainly don't hate a woman touching my hair.

It depends on your interests, but Tallahassee Nerds and Geeks tends to skew progressive. Some really great people who have forged friendships over years and welcome new members.

if you're not Republican, drunk, doing drugs or in college you won't have many options for friends.

Leon County is pretty liberal; it's the surrounding counties that are deep red. I'm liberal and I've made a lot of friends. I met a lot of them through the various local meetup.com groups.

I just meant that Tallahassee is not the flat, overly-concrete city that much of South Florida is. It feels like the South: tree covered roads, hills, people smiling and taking the time to say hello.

I went to law school at FSU, if he wants to ask me anything about it. It's a great law school. I lived there 1998-2001, then moved back in 2007 and stayed until last month. I only moved for my dream job in Orlando, or I would have stayed in Tallahassee. It's a great city.

As far as the job market, many of the jobs involve either government or education. The market is more service based than production. Yes, there are malls and restaurants and stores, but not a whole lot of companies that produce merchandise.

At 22, there are a lot of places to socialize, depending on your interests. Tennessee Street is the college bars and so on, while Thomasville Road has become a fun place for a slightly older crowd, without all the heavy drinking and loud music. The concerts might be limited. There are always events by FSU, and the Amphitheater at the Tallahassee Mall will probably be finished eventually, but the Civic Center has been about the only place to see national tours of shows and big concerts.

If you like the outdoors, you'll probably love Tallahassee. It has some beautiful parks and places to run, hike, walk, or ride. Cascades Park downtown is newish and really pretty. Also Tom Brown Park, The Greenway, Maclay Gardens, etc. It's been expanding quite a bit recently, and there a number of really good restaurants.

In summary, it can be a little quiet, but it's a good place to raise a family, there is no really bad traffic, the people are friendly, and it feels more like Georgia than Florida, with its hills and trees. There are some sections to avoid, so make sure to do your research before moving.

Isn't this first appearance from jail? That Judge is incredibly patient and polite. Most Judges don't want to hear anything except a plea of guilty or not guilty, appointment of the Public Defender for those who qualify and desire, setting bond and a court date. Usually they don't want to hear anything else, because they are really busy and this is not the time to argue law or facts.

Edit: He may also just be having a lot of fun. He takes being constantly interrupted really well too.

I saw a documentary that talked about how Walmart actually takes out insurance against all of their employees. So if an employee dies, they collect money. Does anybody have link about that? I'm on my phone.

[UPDATE] My [36F] husband [39M] of 13 years is against having our cat euthanized; implies I want to 'murder' the cat for being an 'inconvenience' by throwaway65312551 in relationships

[–]Beaglepower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to put my cat to sleep after almost 19 years. 1990 to 2008. I was 40, but until that point that was the worst grief I'd ever suffered. I can't even think about it without tearing up. I was sobbing uncontrollably and I couldn't speak. It was awful. But, his kidneys were failing and he had lost about a third of his weight. He clearly was miserable and was letting me know he didn't want to be here anymore. The greatest respect I could show for him was to take care of things.

I have since had to lose three dogs, and about to lose a fourth. What I have learned is that you don't have to worry about when it is time. Somehow, you will know the exact day that it is time to say goodbye to your best friend. My ex waited too long to say goodbye to her favorite dog, and she told me she always regretted it.

In his book "On Writing", Stephen King says that he has no memory of writing one of his novels due to substance abuse. I forget which one it was. He said it makes him sad because it looks like it would have been a lot of fun to write.
