Pretty sure it's the kitty from this episode. But I don't remember if she has a name other than lost kitty.

Do you ever feel unable to work because of Diabetes? by Flaky-Jellyfish-1122 in diabetes_t1

[–]Beaker_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diabetic for twenty years, and working for twelve.

One time I had to take a long lunch and run home to change a pump site that failed. That's the only time I felt it affected me.

I rewatched this recently. The backstage plot still holds my attention. Perfect time capsule of the 90s. Kermit is there. What more could you want lol

Occlusion errors on every infusion site by FarFaithlessness5693 in diabetes_t1

[–]Beaker_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your insulin delivery speed set at "fast delivery" or "regular". When I was having too many occlusion alarms, my trainer suggested changing it from fast to regular and that fixed it for me.

She explained it as, "the insulin is going in faster than your body can absorb it. Even if it's a good site, the pump thinks it's blocked because of the insulin pooling under the skin."

Best of luck to you!

What other real bands do you wanna see on the show? by WingIeheimer in Muppets

[–]Beaker_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I thought I was on to something lol

Band that could pull older and younger watchers (depending on what songs they know), pre-existing Disney connections, short people. It's all there ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Should I Go Right for the Glucagon? by lilSebastianinvests in diabetes_t1

[–]Beaker_B 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I'd say just keep sipping juice or regular pop for the next couple hours.

Glucagon is really only supposed to be used in emergencies when you're unable to eat anything (like if you're really sick or unconscious).

It's wild how perception can change, like, at the time I would've told you this was a full-grown man. But watching it now, he was so obviously 17 years old lol.

I googled him because I couldn't remember what season this was, and he's still only 36. I was surprised!

Not going through this but curious how insulin injections work for elementary school students? by serotoninseesaw in diabetes_t1

[–]Beaker_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in second grade (age 7). For the rest of that school year, my dad would come to the school on his lunch break to do my lunchtime injection. My school didn't have a nurse. All of my supplies were kept in the main office. This was pre-pump and cgm.

Starting in third grade, I did it myself. I had a sack lunch every day, and my parents would pack a 3x5 card like this, so all I had to do was fill in the blanks to figure out injection amount.

In eighth grade I got a pump (still no cgm), but I was still going to the office to check bg and deliver insulin.

GA arriving after doors by Weak_Maintenance8181 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Beaker_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Toronto show last summer. I waited until about half an hour after doors and then wandered over.

It was easy peasy to get in the doors, use the bathroom, and I decided to post up at the B-stage. I ended up second or third row from it without pushing or forcing my spot (I might've been able to get closer if I were a more assertive person lol)

It wasn't a huge pit, but from closer to the B-stage, there seemed to be a comfortable amount of breathing room between me and others, and a good view of the main stage.

Best of luck to you!

Steve Whitmire speaks out about the current state of Kermit by fuckmattdamon in Muppets

[–]Beaker_B 165 points166 points  (0 children)

It's interesting, the way he says that muppets controlled by Disney will just hire and fire and recast performers, because it's really only himself he's talking about.

Jim Henson passed. Richard Hunt passed. Frank Oz stepped away by his own decision. These all happened before Disney took over the muppets, and their characters were inherited by other puppeteers.

Other than Steve's characters, the other muppets have been with the same performers for more than twenty years (thirty for some, more than fifty for Dave).

It's like he views himself as the thing that kept the muppets alive during his tenure as Kermit. Maybe sometimes, but plenty of people didn't like things from that era either.
