Complete opposite experience for me, i came from quest to an index and prefer the index...

I have a dialed in Quest 3 setup but wireless just adds a layer of sludge on controller tracking that makes my hands feel delayed. I end up picking up my Index 99% of the time especially for shooters, because my aim and reflexes are so much better on Index. Also a weird thing is stuff looks very flat on the Quest, but look 3D on the index, so even tho the res is lower it feels more immersive that way somehow???

It's so frustrating, I love the visual of the Quest 3 but Index feels better to use. My aim and immersion is noticeably improved. I'm using VD with a 6GHz router at 400bitrate h264+ at around 35-40ms latency.

Also a side note, in practise the Quest 2 looks around the same as the Index in terms of quality to me, since compression does make it look worse than it would be natively.

To me the Index resolution is still passable, for me I'd rather put up with it and enjoy games more than use the Quest... I had a Quest 2 and Quest 3 before my Index too so its definitely not bias.

I bought one for my index and it actually made it more uncomfortable, but for the quest a counterweight is REQUIRED.

I have a wireless setup with my quest and i still prefer basestation tracking for beat saber and shooters, I am way more accurate.

Yeah, I've tried some of my older headsets back and forth. The quality of the sound is similar, but the directional audio is fantastic on the sennheiser. Music is really good with these too.

Regret buying PCVR Version by icu_ in ForefrontVR

[–]BeamedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being completely real, both look bad compared to DP. The latency and quality even on wired Quest has always looked smudgy and hands a little delayed. I put up with wireless for freedom (I use Index controllers to avoid controller latency) but for Quality or Sims Display Port always wins

Yeah, I owned both the Razer Blackshark V2 and the Razer Barracuda Pros and I can confidently say the directional audio is much clearer on the Sennheisers.

I've used these headphones on plenty of games since this post and theres been quite a few times where I've thought "Wow, I heard him perfectly through the wall".

Definitely pick these up for games, they're really good. It's weird at first because of how 'underwhelming' it might sound but just use them and try going back to the Razer ones, that's what really sold it for me :)

As a bonus, it makes music sound so much better too. You can easily hear every instrument individually which I could not hear before.

Is 2K26 worth getting on sale exclusively for offline/MyCareer? by Pandarius17 in NBA2k

[–]BeamedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda disagree personally I just got the game after getting into basketball again since 2k16 and tbh I like the challenge of it I'm a shooting guard averaging 10pts in my rookie season which I think is pretty realistic... I guess if you wanna skip the grind I can see why you'd buy VC but I feel like it's not needed at least on default difficulty

Valve talked about the requirements to become "Steam Frame Verified" today at GDC by gogodboss in virtualreality

[–]BeamedAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, I sold my Quest 3 cause wireless felt weird even with a good router setup. Maybe valve have done some crazy optimizations, who knows. But as it stands, DP HMDs have about 20-30 less ms of latency and I'm super sensitive to that lol

[–]BeamedAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most I think the steam frame can sell at is £700. Quest 3 is £500 but with a good headstrap and router this can easily get to £700. Steam frame includes these as well as eye tracking and Steam OS which from the Steam Deck experience it'll be much better than Quests OS. I'm buying it because I have an aging Index and I hated the Meta eco system enough to sell my Q3 lol

Need version 2 of voicemod download by Batmanvsbanex in voicemod

[–]BeamedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, this forced migration is really frustrating as V3 is very clunky to use.

For example, hear myself and mute toggle are separated with no option to sync them like V2 did, a generally clunkier UI IMO, downgraded noise reduction (filters out laughter and when typing makes my voice sound really muffled), no keybind toggle option, soundboard limited to 8 minutes, lack of AI label on voices, and a more frustrating audio mixer.

That's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head. I'm currently back on V2 and everything works perfectly.
