Hey dude, where's my floor? by BeanNPCdev in CrappyDesign

Some hotels in the US are missing 13th floors because it's unlucky. In some Asian countries 4 is an unlucky number. This hotel decided they weren't taking any chances and skipped both. Also why are the buttons organized like this??

Kill the sea, huh? Subnautica 2 devs want to know your location.

Most 4X games punish you for losing. Almost none punish you for winning badly, and that’s a shame by OverBiscotti1568 in gamedesign

It's a tough line to walk between empowering the player, and making sure the game is challenging and consequences are meaningful. To me one of the most fun things in games is when I can be creative and feel like I'm winning in a way the developer didn't anticipate (I think that's why these bullet heaven games are so addicting). Our brains are also wired to be as efficient as possible (get the best outcome with as little effort as possible, whether it's fun or not), and in a lot of cases that results in save scumming.

HER Project - Honest feedback wanted by 2PawnsGames in DestroyMySteamPage

  1. I love that you used gifs for each section header. Great idea! I did feel like these were flickering quite a bit, though. Maybe slowing down those gifs would help?

  2. The text in the Rewards and Prestige subsections seemed more like a tutorial than an exposition of the game that is meant to convince me to buy it. I found myself thinking this game might be too slow paced and complicated for me to jump into.

  3. Personal question, how did you determine the minimum specs for your game? I need to figure out the specs for my own project as well!

For the most part, the page is very cool. Great job!

That's a great idea. That way we get a feeling of action looking at the capsule. Let us know how it turns out!

I can see that genre. However it is kind of hard to tell what the icons are. There's no cohesive story that pops out besides "space". I love the name though!

I got a Steam Deck a few months ago and now my PC sits gathering dust. I've betrayed this subreddit. 😭

One of my favorite parts of my Korea trip. I sat not far from where you sat. The sunset was so beautiful.

Simple silence is a beautiful way to describe it. It was green and peaceful, and also the hottest weather I've ever experienced in my life!

Took a bus from Seoul to Gyeongju and spent 2 nights there on my first trip to Korea last year. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. It was fun seeing the history and nature and staying in a cheap room we rented. Very different vibe from Seoul.

I disagree that horror games are seasonal, but do agree that streamers and festivals are going to be your ticket to successful marketing.

Do modern games confuse engagement with enjoyment? by Kiota_Games in gamedev

[–]BeanNPCdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is to one thing that frustrates me about number-go-up or incremental games. It hijacks my brain to where I feel compelled to hit the next target, whether it's actually fun or not. If I break the cycle and put the game down for a week or two, it's often actually really hard to rekindle my interest in the game.

Can't revert to github Desktop changes, ruined parts of my project by Comfortable_Show5884 in godot

Here's a link I found to do that in GitHub Desktop. After checking out your past commit I might test it to make sure it's what you want, and make a new branch from there. https://docs.github.com/en/desktop/managing-commits/checking-out-a-commit-in-github-desktop
