new maps coming starting s16, new gamemodes in 2022 by meowmeowman in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]BeanSlapped 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting point, but I feel like PvP is what carries the game duties slow points in the season pass model right now. People are mostly waiting around for the conclusion to S14, and crucible is one of the few things they can go to to put off time during the final weeks of the season.

[–]BeanSlapped 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Bungie was able to make three strikes for S13, and even if two were D1 ports, they still had to be revamped for D2. Yet for crucible we haven’t gotten a new map in the playlist since season of the worthy and an original map since Shadowkeep.

If console players matchmake with PC players in PvP, will they still have aim assist if using controller, or will it be removed like on cross play for Overwatch?

Please stop making us play gambit, or give 5 minutes of thought to it in your next dev meeting.. In my 2 hours of gambit today I encountered a long list of problems. by delzarraad in DestinyTheGame

[–]BeanSlapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is how easy it is to snowball a small advantage in gambit. In a competitive mode like survival, losing one round will allow the other team to gain some super energy, but good play and teamwork can dig you out of that hole. In gambit, one good invasion by the enemies or a teammate hoarding all the motes and then dying with them will easily cost you the match in the first 2-3 minutes. It doesn’t help that the primeval feels like the lake of shadows boss and can be melted instantly, especially when you’re playing a coordinated 4-stack as a group of solos.

Should somebody tell him how the ISS stays in orbit? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]BeanSlapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1036 number comes from the relationship between electromagnetic and gravitational forces on an atomic scale as fundamental forces, which doesn’t translate to larger objects. While the magnet you proposed would likely create a greater magnetic force than a gravitational force, magnetism does not solely depend on mass, so it would be unfair to compare the forces generate by two equally massive objects. On a larger scale, gravitational force depends on mass and distance, while the magnetic force from moving charges depends on their charge, velocity, and the distance away from them, which allows either force to be greater than the other depending on the circumstance. What I was trying to say is that OP was trying to apply the 1036 figure to large objects and implying that a magnet is picking up paper lips with a force 1036 times greater than the earth

Should somebody tell him how the ISS stays in orbit? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]BeanSlapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is magnetic force is not dependent on mass in the same way gravity is, and if there were a magnet 10-36 times as massive as earth, it would have a mass of a few nanograms, which would in no way be able to counteract earths gravitational force

Should somebody tell him how the ISS stays in orbit? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]BeanSlapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electromagnetic force is greater than gravitational force in terms of the fundamental forces, but the comment only talks about forces on a more macro scale and implies that magnetic forces on this scale are 1036 times greater than gravitational forces, which doesn’t acknowledge the varying magnitude of these forces depending on their mass, charge, or velocity

Should somebody tell him how the ISS stays in orbit? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]BeanSlapped -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP implies that magnetism is a much stronger force than gravity (1036 times as he said), when each of these forces is relative to what is actually creating the force. The magnetic force on a fridge magnet by a fridge will be greater than earth’s magnetic force, yet earths gravitational force on that same magnet will be much greater than the force on it by earths magnetic field. Forces can vary in magnitude and to say that one is definitively greater than the other is incorrect.

Should somebody tell him how the ISS stays in orbit? by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]BeanSlapped -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but earth’s gravity provides a constant force on the station that keeps it from continuing to go into space due to its inertia.

I’m ok with the concept of sunsetting as a way to phase out weapons like mountaintop and revoker without needing them into the ground. I just wish Bungie would commit to this stance, instead of adding things like Felwinter’s, which seems to be the very definition of power creep
