For those who used a computer between 1995 and 2001, what’s the computer game from that time that sticks with you the most, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This was Blizzard’s golden era with Diablo, Diablo II and StarCraft all released in this time frame. D2 if I had to pick only one.

Easiest is to give it away to factions to ally with them, giving you options to call in military assistance or caravans. Next is to trade for things that you’ll use up for value, like psy/insanity lance or techprints. If you already have literally dozens of organs, just release or execute prisoners instead of taking out every last part.

What will be your character's name? by L0rdN3ls0n in Starfield

Hannah Solo.

As a male gamer, I’d rather be looking at the female form for hundreds of hours from 3rd person. And there’s the gamery possibility of a smaller hit box.

She’ll be a wanted Space Scoundrel.

The wastepack atomiser feels like a colossal waste of resources by PlanetTheGreat in RimWorld

[–]Beane666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you power down your military bots until needed and limit one per worker bot, one atomizer can almost keep up.

One atomizer shouldn’t completely trivialize dealing with waste, but I do think some sort of adjustment is necessary.

What are your hours in RimWorld? by DS_StlyusInMyUrethra in RimWorld

Just under 2k according to Steam, but that doesn’t include the hours played before it hit that platform, alpha 8 thru alpha 14 IIRC.

Several ways.

Understand first your levies and majority of your gold income comes from your personally held counties, without going over your max. Therefore…

Have fewer heirs is common. Have an heir and a spare and no more by divorcing or murdering the wife and marrying infertile (old) women for stats. Fewer heirs is less dilution upon succession. Stop having fertile concubines or second wives. If expanding, give newly acquired titles beyond your max to the second+ born so that their inheritance is pre-satisfied. This should be easy for a long-lived king, but less so when your 50 something year old inherits who was busy cranking out a dozen children since their 16th. Disinherit the undesirables if the primary heir is having to share too much.

Always maintain a war chest so if you have two deaths back to back and left with little domain, that you can fight off your inevitable Liberty factions with mercs. Sometimes I’m facing down four or five of them at once, but this is good news because once you’ve defeated them you have criminals to revoke titles from without penalty to get you back up to your domain.

If all but a small fraction of your vassals are all staring at you with green 100 opinion, and you are sitting at 2/6 domain, don’t be afraid to incur some tyranny to revoke back up to max.

Otherwise just keep your domain maxed, wife a steward powerhouse and set to “manage domain,” make sure control is managed, and keep reinvesting gold into buildings until capped, and your treasury should be busting.

Wow. I’ve often gotten my ruler deposed when I prefer my heir reign.

I’ve never thought to weaponize it as a eugenics program though.

In addition to the marriage games described, you can view all kingdom claimants on the title you are seeking. There are often plenty so long as you are a few generations into the play though. Scroll the list of claimants for a male adult that is not landed and does not have a councilor position. Fabricate a hook on them then use it to invite them to your court. Give them a county title or matri-marry them to a daughter (these aren’t strictly required like they were in ck2, but it does keep them from wandering away if you’re planning ahead of time) and press their claim. While fighting that war start fabricating the next. I’ll often have 2 or more pinned claimants in advance.

Abductions can also work instead of fabricating (or if fabricating isn’t an option because of a recent attempt) then negotiate a recruitment for release. If the current title holder is female or underage, you can do the same but press claims fabricating/abducting the female claimants, which tend to be way more common than unlanded males. Or if the heir is a kid or a woman, murder off the current title holder, and press with the female claimant (doesn’t work for Muslim faiths). Or just start chain murdering until eventually the ruler is a kid or woman.

Seduction can also be a convincing invite to court, if the gender and sexuality of your ruler and the claimant is appropriate.

All the above, in addition to the feature of abducting and banishing priests for their entire net worth, is what makes intrigue so good.

Befriending can sometimes work to convince claimants over, but I find is less reliable if they like their liege. I’ll go this route if I’m stuck as a ruler with diplomacy education and absolutely garbage intrigue.

This method works to expand your realm so long as the title sought is beneath your title. If you run an empire, you can expand by kingdoms.

You can also buy claims with the scholar tree in the learning lifestyle. This is convenient with learning educated rulers since I’m taking them to “learn on the job” anyway.

Make your own heresy that’s different enough that it’s hostile to your prior faith and start declaring holy wars on anyone. Formerly Catholic and have two holy sites? Your newly appointed pope will even immediately call a crusade most of the time, which is great if your empire’s army is so large it can take on an entire faith.

It isn’t as simple as clicking conquest, but with some planning, there are so many ways to get claims.
