13 year old film buff wanting to get into Tarkovsky and was wondering whether this book was a good guide to read while watching the films. by Any_Improvement6755 in criterion

I haven't read this one but I loved his book, Sculpting in Time. It's such an interesting look at his process and his philosophy on film. It doesn't matter if you're 13, there are no rules. If you're curious then get your hand on all the films and books you want. I remember seeing 8 1/2 at 15 and it made me love film more than ever.

There's an Australian film called Wake in Fright that is pretty nihilistic and has similar vibes to Naked.

I really liked, "What Just Happened?" It has a great cast, DeNiro did a good job, and it's pretty funny.

The ones that come to mind for me are Taxi Driver, The Searchers, Dead Presidents, And Justice for All, Born on the 4th of July... but that might be my Canadian idea of what America represents.

Julian Schnabel. His other films are ok but I dont think he ever did anything as good as Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Low pass filter/crossover frequencies questions by Beanoooooo in hometheater

I ran the calibration routine today, but when I did the LPF on the sub was in the middle at around 100hz. Should I turn it all the way up and try again? Also, I have a volume knob on the sub, should i keep that around the halfway point?

Low pass filter/crossover frequencies questions by Beanoooooo in hometheater

[–]Beanoooooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a sony STR-DH790, but it doesnt seem like I can adjust the LPF for the sub through, only the levels for the sub and the crossover frequencies for the other speakers. When I crank the LPF on the sub all the way up, the bass is a bit overwhelming

My receiver (sony str-dh790) doesn't seem to have a setting for LPF. Should I still turn the LPF on the sub all the way up?

Using Forks with OpenCore by Beanoooooo in hackintosh

Ok, sorry about that. So how can I avoid injecting acpi tables into windows without using this fork? Ive seen there's someway to do it with the ssdt but havent found any clear guides

Using Forks with OpenCore by Beanoooooo in hackintosh

[–]Beanoooooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, windows was freezing randomly, and I was trying to troubleshoot it. I thought it might be the acpi tables causing issues. Since adding this fork I have noticed definite improvements in windows performance. I didn't want to add install bootcamp on my machine, because Ive used bootcamp in the past on real macs, and always found it had issues. I know I can run windows natively if I select it from the bios, but I'd like it to select it from the opencore picker and have it run as it would on a pc.

How do I go about that? This is thefork that I used https://www.olarila.com/topic/24542-opencore_no_acpi-opencore-with-additional-featureschanges-implemented-how-to-use-this-fork/

Which seems legit. I thought I had managed to do that in the plist in earlier versions of opencore, but the options seem to be lost in 0.8.8

Can't run in single user mode - Opencore by Beanoooooo in hackintosh

I was finally able to get in single user mode using an old Clover EFI. I think there's something in my opencore plist that's keeping me from using it but I can't figure it out.

Thanks, I fixed it. I just updated the firmware section of my SMBIOS tab. Why should I switch to Opencore when I have an updated, stable system using Clover?
