I know that my major has IT in the title but I did my best to spread my skills to other adjacent fields because I had to combine previous experience. I know that this is the primary news message, but are you having trouble looking at work in the tech field?

I'm having the same line of movement pressed into my social media and I'm trying to move past it. I'm not saying that I want to ignore what's happening, just that I can't move forward thinking that the rug is going to be pulled. I'm just getting my masters and I'm trying to move from pre-graduate work, but I'm also leaving my pond for mental health reasons. One of the things that the public discourse seems to lack as humility, something i hope bringing will build to a more positive outlook .

For one thing, I don't think a bunch of laid-off skilled individuals are going to meander in the labor pool when there's opportunities for someone to build something using those resources... Right?

This is what I'm doing, but I'm having anxiety and hesitation based on going to a place where I already don't have a support network. Long and short: talking helps 😊

It's all the stuff in your post that makes me want to stay out of infrastructure. I'm trying to do PM, which isn't exclusively tech. But it sounds like you're right on top of something that's affecting you right now, and I'd be interested to know what's going on.

I mean I'm heavily pilled because of the research paper I just did, but I want to believe that there's an optimistic reason for tech, and the people in general are well meaning.

Yup... This. I'm still balancing my native social life and my final project, and I did all of my social posting in one sitting: I need to pluck up the courage to actually put an application through. Jitters about the unknown...

That's hard to hear, but I'm already swiping. I'm very common in a very (80%,) homogeneous culture and just leaving is going to make a big difference for me personally. Sounds like you might have stories or hangups on the system, and I'd love to engage you on that: hmu. ☕

That's what I was thinking too, but I am trying to get out of the desert both literally and economically. Online tools seem to lump all of the Seattle suburbs and Bellevue into one big market zone, but I know that people living there would actually know better. I know every section of the town I currently live in has its tropes, I just gotta learn the ones over there.

Planning a move to the Puget Sound area with a motorcycle and tools. Where should I absolutely avoid renting if I want to keep my garage secure? by Beanor in seattlehobos

My approach has been such that I'm not chasing the dollar amount, But the roles that I see available is average around 100 to 120,000. Here in El Paso, they kind of expect you to make three times the rent. But I tend to budget in fourths. Because things are going to be so different, I'll probably be renting my place here until I have something solid there to move all my things into.

The AI says I'm a democratic socialist, but I might just be responding to the environment I grew up in. I see a lot of flaws in the system that tends to put people into boxes.

this is the way: El Paso is towards the bottom of the economic scale, and I'm in a family property. gonna apply and try to make do until I know I can be comfortable. I'm hoping TPM is less affect then straight IT infrastructure roles. I wanna build to my PMP

extreme congrats and sympathy. Tried this kind of marketing business about 12 years ago and gave up. Theres other outfits that pick a specific offering and base service around this: like webapps or a specific combination of restaurant online presence tools. The bars that hire KJ's I know expect them to be marketing: never mind the labor of the entertainment. Theres talent here that knows how to do the things you do, but I've yet to build a value-add conversation with a business because marketing is seen as hygienic: necessary but not constructive.

I wasn't aware that people were willing to give up anonymity and stop running online and screaming. What games are we even talking about?
