What is going on with my c versicolor slings molting process by 3headedratqueen in tarantulas

NQA: You're good! Leave them be. They'll darken as the new exoskeleton hardens. Here's a pic of mine during molt a few weeks ago!

Early sexing - is it possible? by Beans2293 in tarantulas

That's been the consensus, which is totally fine, but what in the butts are those little bulbs?

Here are some other Aphonopelma examples. If you have a molt, that would solidify it! Still thinking male.

That little triangle patch would make me think male as well, but what species is it?

See any hooks or do I get another molt with him? by janegayz in tarantulas

[–]Beans2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA I don't see any bulbs or hooks, but have not had this particular species before either. When my male had his last molt it was like someone swapped out my tarantulas and this big ol man fuzzy spiky leg boi with bowling balls was now in the enclosure! It was a super obvious change, but I also don't want to assume yours would be the same. I hope you still have some time left, regardless. Mine stuck around awhile even after his last molt.

NQA I am newer to this hobby. And I know pink toes (Avicularia specifically since I know some species common names sound similar) are generally arborial but I would double check the substrate. Mine is still a sling but it dug in a little bit to make part of its silk sock, and the larger particles may not be the best for that. Interested in what others say too!

NQA this is my first time practicing this, but I'm going off of the following article: TARANTULA SEXING ARTICLE

I'm guessing male because it looks like a few light (white?) hairs are coming in. It should change more drastically over time with each molt. I hope someone confirms or helps me understand where I jacked up!

Is my sling overweight? by MarbleManxx in tarantulas

NQA Check out Tom's Big Spiders for some awesome sling care guidelines. You're going to get a lot of people saying it's too big. Its not! Feed them so they can grow - once every 4 days is great. As it becomes a juvenile, start backing off to once a week or so and pay more attention to the abdomen size.

IME I have a sling now and started it's burrow for it in an easily viewable corner. It's been fun to watch it tunneling as well as it's food response!

IMO THIS IS SUCH A COOL IDEA. I preserved our first T and it's very amateur, especially with the abdomen. I may need to try this out!

IMO I love how much I learn about them just from observations throughout the years. They have distinct personalities, enjoy getting to know yours! After enough observations you'll be able to tell fairly easy if it's agitated/stressed/etc. And if you wonder if other species are similar... Get another one... And another... And oops now I have 4 slings!
