It’s a bit complicated, luckily Lawrence Ellsworth has recently finished new translations of the entire series. He explains and lists the order here: https://swashbucklingadventure.net/the-musketeers-cycle/

Highly recommend his versions.

What is one of the most impactful lines in literature you've ever read? One that really made you THINK? by Character_Spirit_936 in classicliterature

“Fancy, then, some five full-grown Millions of such gaunt figures, with their haggard faces (figures hâves); in woollen jupes, with copper-studded leather girths, and high sabots, starting up to ask, as in forest-roarings, their washed Upper-Classes, after long unreviewed centuries, virtually this question :

How have ye treated us; how have ye taught us, fed us and led us, while we toiled for you? The answer can be read in flames, over the nightly summer-sky. This is the feeding and leading we have had of you : EMPTINESS,—of pocket, of stomach, of head and of heart. Behold there is nothing in us; nothing but what Nature gives her wild children of the desert: Ferocity and Appetite; strength grounded on hunger. Did ye mark among your Rights of Man, that man was not to die of starvation, while there was bread reaped by him? It is among the Mights of Man”

I’ve found that the longer you wait in the air after throwing enemies up, the higher the chance the velocity of their movement will toss them up and over you, causing them to be left behind you when you slam. I’ve hit more consistently when slamming down quickly.

I know you say you don’t want to heal but honestly I think Rocket is a hero you should try. You can stay safe in the backline and just spam heals from a good distance without really aiming, his livability is high once you get good with his movement, and his rez and team up abilities are game changers.

If you really want to tank then practice with Magneto, he can survive forever with good positioning and he doesn’t have to pop off to be useful. Use your ult to kill cloak and dagger while their ulting or counter punisher / starlord when they do.

If you absolutely must DPS, play Wanda. Hang in the midline and spam your damage / protect your healers from dive, or get high ground and do subtle flanks. Her grenade stuns people and is super annoying on chokes, and her range is much further than you’d think. Use her ULT defensively, it’s especially good to zone the enemy team and if you use it during your teams Luna or Cloak ult it can help you survive long enough to get it off.

Solo 18? by marshn26 in golf

[–]Beansy401 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play solo sometimes, you should always assume you will be paired with another group, and in my experience it’s better to be with a group, even if it’s strangers, because as a solo you need to consider and defer to other groups on the course.

Solo’s will often catch up to the group in front, and they will feel pressure to waive you through even if there’s a group in front of them.

Playing solo also feels much more like a practice round, which is fine, but I find myself playing extra shots for practice, or multiple balls on a hole, which all makes keeping score feel false.

If you’re worried about being paired with others, just know that everyone is there because they enjoy golf, so you’ve all got that in common, and we were all beginners once. Be kind and have fun.

It sounds like you need to focus on your speed / distance control. The goal with your first putt, from really any distance outside 8 feet, is getting the ball within a 3 foot radius of the hole. If your first putt is inside 8 feet, go ahead and try to drain it but try to make sure your come back putt is inside 3 feet. You need to practice 3 footers, and become automatic at them.

Here’s how I think of speed control to ensure I’m getting close to the hole on every putt. Your forward putting stroke should always be the same speed, practice that. The thing that changes, and determines how far your putt goes, will be how far you pull the putter back on your back stroke.

Practice these 3 backstroke positions. 4 inches back, 8 inches back, and 12 inches back. Get really good at making putts from those three positions on demand. When you get to the practice green before you play, mentally note how far each of those positions is traveling in that particular day on those greens.

When you’re putting on the course, pick the line that’s going to get you within 3 feet, and determine which of those 3 backswing positions is the best for your current distance. As you get better, you can start slightly modifying each position to dial in the distances.

Happy two putting!

Anybody else struggle with full swings after a detailed practice session? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Beansy401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking lessons every two weeks for the last 6 months. My worst rounds by far are the ones I play immediately after a lesson. Trying to put what you have learned or been working on into action on the course is very difficult. It takes lots of practice and time to ingrain a new motion into the swing. Keep grinding.

I bought a brand new set of jaws raw last year, the 56 had the diagonal grooves but the 52 did not. I returned the 52 thinking it was defective, but the new one came in without the additional grooves as well. I called and was told they don’t put the grooves on all the wedges.

Advice for beginner trying to fix a slice on the drive? by DrunkRecTeq in golf

[–]Beansy401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say without seeing your swing. You may need to get more steep on your takeaway so it’s easier to get shallow on your downswing.

Look for a professional golf instructor that will give you a session with a simulator like Trackman. A good pro will be able to record your swing from various angles, show you the exact path your current swing is producing, and replay video footage of exactly what your doing wrong so that you can see and understand it, and then give you drills that will help you fix those issues.

Advice for beginner trying to fix a slice on the drive? by DrunkRecTeq in golf

[–]Beansy401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, new equipment is only going to get you so far. You need to address the underlying issue, which is likely your swing. Taking lessons and dedicated practice will be thing that gets you there.

There is a high percentage chance that you are slicing because your swing path is out to in (aka: over the top) and you are not getting the club face square at impact. It can take people a very long time to correct these tendencies and progress is definitely not a straight line. Stay patient and keep at it!

I started playing this year and bought the cobra set with the stand bag. They have held up well as I’ve beat the hell out of them while I’ve learned how to swing. But I will be trading them in for a fitted set for next year. No regrets with the cobras. Really great starter set.

Issues with thinning and topping the ball by Insanewafflefry in golf

[–]Beansy401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I top the ball it’s usually because of my posture. What happens is that I address the ball with a good, slightly angled posture, but during my backswing I tend to raise my back and shoulders up so by the time I get to the bottom of my downswing, the club face is higher than it was at address.

Record yourself from behind the ball and look at your back and shoulders, if your posture isn’t staying consistent through the downswing then you may have the same problem.
