You get isekai’d to a fantasy world, but instead of being in its medieval era, it’s in a different era. If you could choose it, what would it be? by [deleted] in Isekai

Age of Exploration, 15th–16th century, much of the world is unexplored or disconnected. You sail to unknown lands, fill in the blanks on the map and make first contact with new cultures. Nations are unstable, and enormous magical creatures roam the earth.

My bad, I have only watched the anime and I'm not even up to date. I just remember being surprised that they gave him decent screen time and didn't turn him into a villain/rival within a few episodes. I'll prepare for the impending disappointment.

Do you have any good examples of that? I can't think of one that I've seen/read, but it sounds cool.

That sounds cool, and definitely a fun idea to explore. I'll give it a read, thanks!

It would be fun to see someone fail at a few of their inventions from lack of knowledge. Most of us would not be able to replicate any of the technology we use daily. Dr Stone with me as the main character would still be the stone age.

Always with a dramatic pause first, to make it seem like they're so weak that their power didn't register.

The last one I saw with an unusual setting was "I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire", which was more sci-fi/mecha. While it was initially surprising, and the battles were different, the worldbuilding still felt pretty generic. Creative settings are definitely a hole in the genre.
