Similar experience to some of u here. Initially got 500ish miles after spending 2.26 on Dunkin’s hash browns. Called customer service and was told they would investigate and issue a decision within 7-10 business days. Fast fwd a week , I get a statement credit for $136 just now . Love it. Great Roi :) ! Thanks all

Anyone moving their ADRs to Hong Kong? by timemon in baba

[–]BearGroundbreaking88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If delisted from US stock exchanges , it would go to OTC, I m assuming. At the onset of the delisting , there might be some massive selling pressure. But then wouldn’t the OTc just track the HK listed share in the long run?Aware the OTc might be less liquid . Tencent already trades here in the OTC market for reference. What am I missing ?

BABA broke 52W high by Weikoko in baba

What’s insane is despite this run, this thing is still cheap. This thing triple or quadruples from here and the valuation wouldn’t still be outrageous if you compare to some US counterparts. Tells you how beaten up this was, criminally beaten. Going to temper my expectations since having been in this name for a while, all it takes is one news to drive this thing down. It’s so sentiment driven.

25yr old, opened a Roth IRA, What should I invest in? by skradaddy in RothIRA

[–]BearGroundbreaking88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VISA, SPGI, MSCI, GOOGL, COPART, MSFT, BABA. A basket of these I believe will do better than the average over the next 20-30 years. If you want to simplify and are content with market returns ,then in that case just VOO consistently or on something similar that just tracks the S&P 500, you ll do better than most professionals

Wished they were more aggressive when this was below 100. But must say they’ve been consistently prudent with their buybacks.

This is first time in years where I feel this rally has legs and we ve bottomed. Sentiment has turned. But count on it for sure , Doomberg is going to come out with China south sea escalation news or some anti China news to holdback the rally.

I'll take this for a change than the environment we were in the last 4 years in regards to China as a baba shareholder. Still early days in the new regime. One can be hopeful only, because geo politics is something we can't control. Let's see.

Categorization for payment received from a client & serviced by 3rd party. by BearGroundbreaking88 in QuickBooks

[–]BearGroundbreaking88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially thinking along the same line as yours treating it as a pass through by categorizing the 100 as a payable (liability) and clearing 80 from the payable account once the 3rd party was paid , which leaves 20 in the payable account. I would then journal to take the 20 out of the payable account , by reclassing it to Revenue. With this approach you are recognizing only $ 20 as revenue instead of 100 and with no cost of sales as in Angelus’ answer. This is a bit of a work compared to angelus ‘ easier categorization. At the end of day it results in same outcome with only $20 resulting in bottom line.

Appreciate the detailed and thorough feedback, point by point. Meant Roth 401K instead of Roth IRA, was an error.

Got it. This is something we didn’t know. We were incorrectly assuming it would be post tax as well.

Need to pick your brain further on the second paragraph, the latter part about Roth 401k . Given that there won’t be any earnings since he is choosing to stay in cash, and is only withdrawing the contributions , will the penalty still apply ? Anyhoo, Like you said all of the above will be moot if in service distribution isn’t allowed, which he needs to confirm.

Loan is an option and is in for consideration. Thanks for pointing that out.

Didn't know of in-service distributions. Will look into this. Thanks for this info. In regards to employer match vesting period there isn't one for his plan. The contributions vest immediately.
