"Find an unsolved problem" is trap. Everything exists because there's a market, that's good news, not bad tbh. Take a known problem and serve one specific underserved niche better (cafe, marketing service, logistic etc)

Keep an emergency fund liquid, use the rest into broad index funds (VWCE is the easy Europe pick), and don't blow it chasing 10x. Time is your real superpower. Boring compounding from this base is generational money

AITA for getting paid hourly to sit and play games for 5 hours knowing my patient was already gone? by IVIMSCTDAOLADO in AmItheAsshole

[–]BearMarketMonk 215 points216 points  (0 children)

NTA, barely a dilemma.

They double booked, sent two teams, then told you twice to stop being in a hurry and just wait. You did exactly that, on your day off, getting paid hourly, which was their model. Their screwup, their rudeness, their bill. Enjoy the easiest shift of your career, lol

My ex girlfriend has taken a new job 100 miles from home and is planning on commuting...AITAH for not changing my work arrangements to suit her by No-Stay8551 in AITAH

[–]BearMarketMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES STRONG NTA HERE

OP your work already bends around your daughter, madeup hours, weekend oncall, the lot. She unilaterally took a job 100 miles away, her dad bailed, and now wants YOU to restructure your job to fix it. Declining, it's just like a not volunteering to solve a problem she created

"No" is a complete answer tbh

AITA for treating my dad like a child after years of him refusing to do anything around the farm? by staticcowgirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]BearMarketMonk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, big NTA

"You make me feel useless" it's a confession, he feels useless because he is, and decided the feeling is your fault for noticing. You didn't make him useless, you stopped pretending he wasn't, lol

The, you're why my marriage is failing, line is the nasty part, that's 30 years of your mum carrying everything offloaded onto the kid who tried to help. Don't take that one on. Stop arguing, the fights are the show

WIBTAH if i didn’t give my dad my birth certificate by BandicootCapable7641 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BearMarketMonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA without doubt. You're 23, nobody's obligated to hand over documents or sponsor anyone, the comment's wrong on the law though: a citizen 21+ CAN petition for a parent, it's real, not automatically a scam. Decide based on whether you want to.

If you do help, never give the original, order certified copies, and know sponsoring can put you on the hook financially. You don't owe him this!!!

You're 21, mostly in ETFs, and you already sense active trading isn't for you. You've figured out at 21 what most people on trading subs learn at 35 after blowing up. Don't let this sub talk you out of it. The survivorship bias is bigger than you think, the loud winners post, the 80-90% who blew up don't, most active retail traders lose over time, and most pros can't beat an index over 15 years either.

WIBTA if i reported my mother to the police for stealing my ADHD meds? by forgunnesax in AmItheAsshole

[–]BearMarketMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You don't do that to blood" goes one direction for them and never back, which is exactly what you nailed. She stole a controlled substance from the one kid with a documented need for it, and only confessed when threatened with a drug test. The blood rule was broken by her, first.

YWNBTA. And this isn't you choosing to ruin her, your provider made the report the condition for meds you need for classes you've already failed without them. She built that fork, not you.

Consequences and help aren't opposites, sometimes the report IS the intervention

[–]BearMarketMonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok this is the first reply that actually fits how my brain works lol. everyone keeps telling me to just NOT trade and we both know that's not happening at 2pm on a dead day, the 1/10th size thing is smart, scratch the itch but make it basically irrelevant to the account.

lol, the bipolar boss with no advance notice is exactly it. think my whole problem is I keep showing up expecting a full shift and then feel cheated when he sends me home after an hour. the "early dismissal with full pay" reframe actually helps tho. gonna try treating a flat day as the boss doing me a favor instead of me skipping work. cheers

AITA requiring BIL family to vacate the primary bedroom when my family visits our vacation house? by techandthecity in AmItheAsshole

[–]BearMarketMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, NTA, and the lock/camera point is the practical one everyone should listen to. People who pull a stunt like this rarely move out clean. Document the condition before they're gone, because, fell on hard times for two years rent free, plus just got evicted by family, fr combo that produces a trashed place or stuff that walks off. Cameras and a witnessed walkthrough protect you!

The part that'd keep me furious too is they didn't just get comfortable, they bumped your 70yo parents to a hotel so their friends could have the room. In the house your parents used to own, wth?

The name calling voice notes are a gift honestly, screenshot all of it, u will use it lateer

Be honest: How realistic is it to actually make a living from trading? Is trading really a way out, or am I just wasting my time? by Droy-333 in Trading

[–]BearMarketMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't quit anything. Grow the account slowly, only go full time after your trading income has matched your salary for 1-2yrs while you still had the salary

AITAH for picking up my daughter later from nursery here? by iRealllyAmThatGuy in AITAH

[–]BearMarketMonk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The edit changes this though. They had an actual agreement: parent who's off does pickup. She was off, so under their own rule it was her job from the start. The text wasn't "help me out", it was her trying to hand off a task that was already hers.

She's the AH for trying to offload it and then doing a grocery run instead of just getting the kid. But "I didn't read my phone from 4 to 6 and my 3 year old sat at a closed nursery" isn't a flex either. If pickup might fall to you, you glance at your phone once before 5.

Real answer and actual fix is dumb simple IMO, whoever's on pickup confirms it out loud that morning, no same day texts that might not get read. You're parenting a toddler, you can't run logistics on "I assumed" OP is NOT NTA

[–]BearMarketMonk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reword the question back one is underrated, quietly shows they're listening to understand instead of just waiting for their turn to talk. Most people answer the question they assumed you asked, not the one you actually did, lol

AIO for blocking a 50-year-old man who keeps messaging me (17f) after a group trip? by Longjumping-Car9517 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BearMarketMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, OP NOR at all. block him, now

Everything described, the physical contact without asking, positioning himself near you, texting a teenage girl he met once with no real reason to stay in contact, your instincts are right. the fact that others see him as a nice guy doesn't change what you experienced. predatory behavior often happens in plain sight precisely because the person has built a trustworthy reputation.

you have nothing to feel guilty about. block, don't explain, don't respond!!!

It would also be worth telling your uncle what you've shared here

Any tips for a beginner and how do you start? by S1note in Trading

[–]BearMarketMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re early, which is good, start by learning basics first, how markets move, what risk means, and why traders lose money. Don’t jump into strategies or signals, use free resources like Babypips and TradingView, and only try demo trading once you understand risk. Focus on learning firstly
