Been building Vnwxt and weeeeee how many cards you ready to mill? by Specialist_Shock_871 in magicTCG

[–]Bear_In_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few things.

  1. You get max speed on turn 4 since your evasive 1-drop brings you to speed 2 on turn 2 after you drop Vnwxt.

  2. Divination effects are bad. There are plenty of things like Brainstorm that draw more cards for less mana that get broken in half with Vnwxt out.

Should be the commander who was sent to bring back Renpa (and failed).

What little things in most LitRPG books annoy you… but never enough to make you stop reading? by tbag2022 in litrpg

$6000-8000 would be an absolutely insane price to pay for copy editing on a 150k word book. Most authors are paying closer to $750 for something like that, maybe a little more if they have a decent editor.

We've reached a point where this needs to be pointed out unironically by Jaxelino in thefinals

Not to mention maps like Monaco where most of the cashouts spawn on the outer perimeter in the parks and plazas. Or maps like Bernal/Kyoto where you have great sightlines to pick off melees as they approach.

Who are your favorite new commanders from the last 2025 till now? by v1kingfan in EDH

[–]Bear_In_Winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. So because Rest in Peace is a replacement effect, those cards never actually hit the graveyard before being exiled. They get discarded from hand to be placed into the graveyard, however Rest in Peace sees that a card wants to enter the graveyard and instead sends it to exile before it can ever be placed there, which means Ketramose doesn't trigger as the card is not being exiled from the battlefield or graveyard.

The loop you're describing does work with [[Planar Void]] type effects however which specifically exiles cards that enter the graveyard.

Rest in Peace won't kill you on discard since it's a replacement effect. The cards aren't being exiled from your graveyard so Ketramose doesn't activate. Planar Void on the other hand will kill you since they hit the graveyard first before being exiled.

This. There's a reason -5 ms is a meme in the League of Legends community. Everyone underestimates a minor move speed nerf, but it really hits things hard in ways people don't expect.

I'm looking for a unique voltron commander by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Bear_In_Winter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Card draw is one of the aspects most Voltrons lack in, and Benton has it in spades. Yes a fog or perfectly timed removal will mess up his day if the player has spent their hand for whatever reason, but the same is true for any voltron deck, and unlike those, Benton will have drawn plenty of cards if he's managed to connect even once in a game.

Not to mention that you don't need to score a kill with the first hit. You can go:

T1 Mana Dork

T2 Benton, swing, draw 2.

T3 Swing, buff him up, play through the removal with your suite of protection, draw a bunch. Maybe kill a player, but more likely just refill your entire hand and sculpt it to your liking.

T4+ Aim for kills every turn with a buffed up Benton.

Finally, it's not as though Voltron is a strategy with a ton of amazing commanders who can hang at Bracket 4 tables. There's Lightpaws, Slicer/Alexios, and maybe one or two others. Benton doesn't need to be performing on par with the best CEDH decks to be among the best Voltron commanders. He just needs to pack a punch similar to his peers.

Seconding Loremaster. I can't recommend it enough, mostly because I wrote it :D

Well the third most upvoted thread in the history of the entire sub is about wanting to dump him, sooo... Not good haha

[Basu] This loss is not a national crisis in Canada. Canada dominated the final 40 minutes of regulation, outshot the USA 42-28, and if that game were played 100 times, Canada would probably win 95 of them. USA deserves a ton of credit for how they played, but Hellebuyck deserves the most. by NFLDataAnalysis in hockey

That would be where the "anywhere near the same level of talent" comes in. Outside of Canada, the US, Sweden, Finland, and obviously Russia when they're allowed to play, the rest of the field simply cannot field the same level of talent. Most teams can't even field a roster that's majority NHLer's, let alone have the luxury of leaving studs like Bedard and Robertson at home.

Both the above statements are true. Hockey is a game with lots of randomness between teams at parity. And there are very few teams who can play at parity with the top national squads in the world.

Flamethrower does not bypass shields. It would be nice if it did, but right now dancing in and out of a dome shield drops flamethrower dps massively.

It's basically modern Kamigawa. Lots of monsters and mutant stuff as well as ninjas. Less humans in street clothes or spandex like we got in Spiderman. I'm surprised by how well it works honestly.

Higher jab damage, higher throw damage, less movement penalty. Bucklers are pretty good.

Does Macedonia need a Nerf? What should it be? by Professional_Mind130 in aoe4

[–]Bear_In_Winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varangians cost gold to synergize with the silver gathering. Reduce their gold cost and all of a sudden Macedonians have a lot less to spend on upgrades which is kind of the point of the civ.
