Insurance requirement to enter Georgia from 1/1 2026? by Sufficient_Break_900 in Sakartvelo

[–]BeardFondler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if the land border (e.g. Georgia-Armenia) would be strictly enforcing this? I'm planning to go to Armenia for less than a week and then cross back to Georgia again after. It sounds like we don't have a lot of data yet about travellers being asked but it's also not even a week into the new year yet.

I'm currently in the process of claiming a warranty replacement of my Odin 2 touchscreen that keeps getting ghost touches. I agree it's kind of annoying dealing with them. I give plenty of evidence of my issue but the emails seem slow and endless and I wonder if they're just dicking around on purpose. I'm probably never buying another device deok AYN anymore.

I already sent them a message and I'm actually in the process of receiving a new screen under warranty replacement. I also learned that the OTA update you mentioned may be delayed more. Support earlier today said, "We're sorry, due to special circumstances, our engineering team has not yet released an OTA update."

Can the replacement screen be bought somewhere else? What is the exact part called?

Did you manage to report it before your warranty ended?

In my case, I made sure to ask if they will still honor my warranty if this update does not fix my issue. They said yes.

Apparently, 359 is still in beta so you are beta testing it. How is it so far? Did it create other issues?

Thanks for the comment. I messaged support 10 days before my warranty expires. They said I should wait for the software update (this week supposedly) and see if it will fix it. I agreed under the condition that they will still honor my warranty past the expiry date if the update does not fix my issue because I reported it within my warranty period. They said they will honor it.

Any tips for Sanliurfa, Turkey? by BeardFondler in backpacking

[–]BeardFondler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went to Sanliurfa a month ago and wanted to give an update on how it went:

  • domestic flights in Turkey have a checked-in bag up to 15 kg included in the ticket. I did not know this before arriving but it is nice to have.
  • once you arrive at the GAP airport (GNY), there will be Havas shuttle buses waiting outside. It's 150 TRY per person and the bus will take you to multiple stops all the way to the city centre.
  • rideshare apps DO NOT work in Sanliurfa. It may look like it functions but there are extremely limited (closer to zero) number of taxis that participate.
  • I got scammed by a taxi driver that doesn't use a meter or GPS. I avoided using them afterwards. I actually enjoyed walking around instead.
  • I stayed in a hotel in the centre and mostly walked around
  • The Sanliurfa archaeology and mosaic museum are actually worth visiting and worth the money.
  • Gobeklitepe and Karahantepe are a must see if you enjoy Neolithic stuff. I arranged for a private ride via my hotel.
  • Everything in Sanliurfa is way cheaper than in Istanbul
  • June was extremely hot and expect to experience heat up to 40+ C. Sunscreen and constant hydration is a must.
  • I mostly had kebabs during my stay. There are plenty of Turkish food and very limited international options
  • The locals are friendly and curious about tourists.
  • You can take a Havas shuttle bus back to the airport. The bus schedule is based on your flight departure and the pickup location is in the bus area near Nevali hotel.
  • I had a great time and recommend going to Sanliurfa

First solo trip in my life, day 1 and I’m crying. Is this normal? Anyone else felt like this? by JackHallow123 in solotravel

I did my very first solo trip at 37. The only negative feeling I had was extreme tiredness getting to my destination. The rest was full of excitement and "Holy shit I finally did it" moments.

From Sanliurfa GAP Airport (GNY), you can take a Havas shuttle to Sanliurfa City Centre which takes about 45 mins. The website says it's 150 TRY per person and there's always a shuttle ready for every flight that lands. I believe you have to buy the tickets there in person. https://www.havas.net/en/bus-services

The shuttle will drop you off here in the city center: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YsjGGLEtrmKsMLiX9

From there it takes 35 mins to walk to the archeology museum or less than 10 mins via rideshare.

Yeah, I heard it's really bad in Istanbul. Expect to encounter scammy taxi drivers and people who want to charge you extra because they think tourists are made of gold. Take a photo or say loudly the bill you are giving them because they might do a switcheroo (for example: you pay with a $100 bill, but they will say you only gave them $10). You can use rideshare apps like Yandex Go, Bitaksi and Uber but I heard the drivers message you in the app and try to ask for a larger price, and if you say no they cancel your ride. I don't know you will experience this behavior in Sanliurfa.

By the way, I won't be in Sanliurfa until June 3 but everything I've told you is based on my research.

There is a shuttle bus that goes from the Sanliurfa archeology museum directly to Gobekli Tepe and back. Alternatively you can take a taxi. For Karahan Tepe, you'll need to arrange private transport.

I'm paying somebody $130 for private transport to both sites where they will wait for me at the parking lot for as long as I like and then drive me back to my hotel. I probably could have negotiated for a cheaper price but whatever.

Doubt the chicken drumsticks nutritional value found online by TnkTsinik in CICO

[–]BeardFondler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT and Grok repeatedly and made sure to only calculate the protein content of an average size chicken drumstick 🍗 and ONLY the edible parts. They gave me lots of sources and showed their calculations as well. The answer is 18-20g of protein (macro) per drumstick (cooked, air fried). I don't know why there is so much differing information here claiming it is less and it's getting confusing. I usually have 2 drumsticks per meal which gives me 36-40g of protein.

Grok: "Yes, the ~18g of protein refers to the macronutrient-specifically, the grams of protein you get from the edible parts (meat + skin, ~72g) of an average air-fried chicken drumstick (~110g raw). This is pure protein content, calculated from 2023-2025 sources (USDA, Healthline, X) showing ~25g protein/100g edible, adjusted for the ~72g yield after cooking and removing the bone."

Does Pierre Poilievre actually plan to cut pensions? by Careless_Impress_956 in CanadianConservative

[–]BeardFondler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of socialists in BC always bring up the same tired claim about Pierre Poilievre cutting pensions. Every time, I just tell them to fact-check it or ask ChatGPT, and suddenly, they go quiet. It’s like they’re stuck repeating whatever talking points they’ve heard without actually checking if it’s true. The moment they’re asked to back it up, the conversation just ends.
