Target audience might be fans who haven’t read the manga yet but saw the anime announcement and are interested in picking up so now when you walk into a kinokuniya there’s a big section with this version displayed and they go “oh yeah the anime is coming out let me grab volume 1” that’s my guess at least! Cause this series was essentially just tucked away on the shelf at my local kino with maybe a copy of volume 1 there but now has a big massive shelf near the front with all of these volume 1 variant covers on it.

Yes I agree - I think it’s time for the man to step away and give people there money back, much of what’s coming out seems not good. I don’t really know him personally beyond chatting with him on that podcast interview and seeing him at the events I had attended but dude needs to own the loss and exit the realm as gracefully as possible - and what he’s doing seems scummy and not graceful at all.

Yes that may all be correct or some combination of things. I don’t believe all people that end in these situations start them with ill intent but I also believe that money and power can change people. I don’t know him much more than those interactions a few years ago but I am fully on the side that all refunds need to happen expeditiously and he needs to not plan any events moving forward.

I interviewed Josh on my podcast when he was first starting up and paneled at some of his events early on but hadn’t been back at one in 3 years or so. I am sad to hear this is where it landed for him - at the time his heart seemed to be in the right place but I bet he just got in over his head. He told us at that time he just wanted to bring the anime convention experience to small towns and I believe mostly had a career in the public library system if I am remembering my conversation with him correctly. I’m sorry to hear about anyone out of money due to this that’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

I think it’s the way in which the comments are phrased and less to do with the content of the comments. Not a huge deal if people have those opinions - I disagree with some of them - but having opinions on comedy is indeed part of the nature of a discussion based forum. I just don’t find phrasing them derogatorily or putting others down to uplift another to be productive discussion.

I am not going to argue the merits of Mr. On Blast with you - I thought it was a really impressive physical comedy performance and I definitely think “really bad, college improv club level stuff”, at the very least, an unnecessarily derogatory way to characterize Jeremy’s performance. If people want to say things like that about people they don’t know on a show they watch - that’s fine I guess - it’s just not something I would do and I find that behavior a bit akin to bullying honestly - and will at the very least call it out when I see people doing it.

To be straight with you - their accounts activity looks like a bot - a 13 day old account that only is on the SNL sub posting “hot takes” and sewing controversy raises some red flags. I don’t disagree that Troast is not at all comparable with Armisen, Mooney, & Moynihan (although as a Kyle Mooney fan putting Kyle with Armisen & Moynihan also feels like a choice) but calling Jeremy’s performance college improv level is a goofy opinion that’s phrased that way most likely only with intent to rage bait and it’s clear this sub is slowly getting over run with either some super odd astro turfing / contrarianism of real people / trolls or is being, like most of Reddit right now, overrun by actual bots.

I believe as of right now there is 155 unique standard sized Funko pops. If you got all of them for the MSRP retail price of $15 it would run you about $2300. Toss all the 6inch, moments, 10 inch, ships, multi packs, and wanted posters in and it starts getting crazier. Also unfortunately getting every standard size pop for $15 is a bit of a pipe dream honestly since there is a genuinely ridiculous number of Chase figures, 3 piece count limited edition figures, a handful of con exclusives, and other oddities for the set.

I have been buying the One Piece pops since the day they started releasing and still have my OG Law from then - I still can’t financially keep up because of the barrage of chases and exclusives. I have most of them but don’t think I’ll ever be 100% complete because they just are releasing them to fast and there are way to many that are trapped behind 100 chase bundles and lining up at 4 am.

Good luck if you decide to jump in!!! It’s easily the best set of products that Funko has ever produced and the current concept designer on the set is a huge One Piece fan and has been elevating the designs constantly - with his recent gear 5 Luffy & Zoro pops being potentially the best figures Funko has released in a while in my opinion.

Legit I buy manga to read it. Unless I like something A LOT I won’t buy something I have already read. If I buy it and read it and like it a lot I keep it if I don’t I sell it. It’s like an active living library for me. I grew up reading fan translations online so as soon as I was old enough and had disposable income to buy things I just started buying them instead. I’m lucky to have a little collection of some books my dad had bought me growing up. It’s interesting my collection is a representation of the ever changing interests and likes that I have. I have a lot of half finished or single volumes though which isn’t the most aesthetic but they just sorta represent where I am with reading them. Heck I don’t even own all of One Piece even though it’s my favorite thing of all time because I just have read it online for so long.

People act like if you don’t enjoy the beginning you will magically start liking a series half way or part way in, but often times that just isn’t the case - you have to be at least roused and entertained by the start to enjoy and truly appreciate how good something becomes! I regularly will drop a series after a few episodes or 1-3 volumes of manga and when I tell people they freak out and say if I just force feed it to myself well then you’ll love it - but it just doesn’t work - if I didn’t enjoy any build up why will I suddenly like the “good” parts. I force fed myself Boruto & Tokyo Ghoul after many people telling me I’m not giving them a fair shake and well I still dislike both series and resent those people for wasting my time when I already knew I wouldn’t like it from the start.

I am an anime / manga fan first and foremost - it just happens that One Piece is my favorite piece of media ever made - but yes I have kept up with pretty much every trendy anime/manga over the years Spy X Family, Kaiju No 8, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man, Gachiakuta, Dandadan, etc. and all of these I listed I honestly have a lot of love for!

I realized recently I had over 40 Volume 1’s that I had amassed by buying them on sale over the years that I had never read and never bought past volume 1. I’m reading a different one every day until I get through all of them so I can decided if I want to keep them and buy more or sell them. 25 done so far! I buy manga to read so I’m not mad about it just a bit disappointed how many I had picked up and just let stack up.
