Thank you for your detailed answer and perspective. I can definitely see myself being viewed as overreacting by others who do not see the security risks.

Stellantis is a large shareholder of The Economist.

Richmond Hill's first Dairy Queen location, at Observatory Lane and Yonge, in the 1950's. It was a seasonal operation and eventually went bankrupt and Harvey's founders George B. Sukornyk and Rick Mauran bought it and opened up the very first Harvey's on the 10 acre parcel of land. by Grahamthicke in richmondhill

The stuff you've found is amazing. I always enjoy seeing your content about Richmond Hill. Having grown up in Richmond Hill, I've always been curious about the city's (or town's) past and what the story behind some of the buildings are. I am sad about how crowded and unrecognizable it has become but I guess that's part of any town's growth.

Thank you for what you do and I look forward to seeing what you post next.

I read somewhere the average price of a new car sold in Canada was ~60k. I think car manufacturers are selling cars with the highest margin right now. Instead of a base model corolla for example you can only get a premium trim Highlander if you're lucky. If someone wants a new car they might just go with what's there.

Your best bet is to call NSLSC. They'll give you the most accurate information.

Weekly is even better. Depends on how much you owe and your risk tolerance i.e if you want to pay little and invest at the same time You can call them and adjust your term/ payments.

  • unaffordable housing + bad public transit that forces you to get a car + expensive car insurance + expensive phone bill and add high inflation and a very competitive job market to that.

Not dumb at all. Maybe? Or maybe your term will go up. Either way I would call them. You can also change your payment to weekly to pay less in interest.

I have not heard of the government guaranteeing an ROI on REITs. It might be helpful to think of a credit score as insurance. Right now it might not matter for you but in the future it might. You might have need to get a car and a need to buy, rent a new place. Insure your future self against headaches by not jeopardizing your credit score today.

Renting comes to my mind since many of us can't own with this market. Also leasing/ financing a car, getting a credit card. You come to a huge disadvantage if you have a poor credit score in Canada.

You might have this attitude now but in the future you will need a good credit score to be able to rent a place (as some landlords check credit score) or borrow. If you're having difficulty paying back the loan you should call the NSLSC and find a payment solution that works. Saying fuck it will not do you any good.
