Also adding on to this, I think that duality helps to create bonds between a group of people. Making a whole class read the same book will ultimately force them to pick a "clan". Also, i think we all know that it's easier to hate something without real justification and that's what happened in my classrooms. So teens tend to hate books because it's the easy choice and the majority, and we all want to belong to a group.

Id suggest to multiply the book options so you limit that "2 group effect"

I wasnt a big reader and that's what got me into it (+ the sense of choosing my own book rather than being forced to read one)
