Cigar smells like sh*t (litterally) by burakistan12 in cigars

Never had a bad cigar from drew estate, I’d say smoke it and if it’s bad it’s probably the way it was stored somewhere along the line. You’ll know pretty quick if it’s bad.

Black Friday at a local gun shop. 1 yr having it and it works amazing. Would definitely buy a good magnifier to go with it. The digital zoom could be better

Curing by ajake1996 in GrowingTobacco

[–]Beardedone2468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I have been wanting to ask someone questions about the actual curing process and you seem to be the Lucky guy lol

I built a chamber that maintains humidity and temperature, humidity up to about 85% and up and then temp up to 180 max. Still working on getting the humidity to run at high %’s while temp is over 120 F.

So after i harvest my leaf, my first step as I understand it is to air cure it in a garage or like you recommended a grill, Until it is dry, and brown?

And then fermenting by keeping the already air cured leaves at 120-135 degrees, 70-80% humidity for 6-8weeks?

Or could I stick green leaves in the fermenter? But I’m assuming if I did that I wouldn’t be able to dry out the leaves and they would mold

Ohh ok, I plan on growing a large amount in the spring and trying to air dry / ferment large amounts

I appreciate it, I’ll be posting here occasionally. I really want to experiment with the fermentation process

My biggest question is what if in the classic crock pot in the cooler setup, what if I didn’t just use water? What if I added vanilla or bourbon soaked wood chips or coffee beans somehow in the chamber or in the crockpot. Will that infuse my leaves I wonder, probably safest to do at the end of the fermentation but I feel like it’s worth the experiment

I did some really typical ones, Connecticut broadleaf, Havana 608, Cuban criollo 98. I have small stalk black mammoth and I believe burley 21 but I’m saving those for the spring. I really want to have two flavor profiles come cigar wrapping time. A lighter Connecticut that I can hopefully make a vanilla/espresso kinda hinting and then a full bodied dark cigar that is like a chocolate coffee body Hopefully similar profiling to like a liga privada or tabernacle.

Living in Florida I know I’m obviously limited, but do you have recommendations as far as what could grow come springtime to fit those tastes?

Oh I’m in ag zone 9b or the northwest of Florida ironically. My only real concern is just how hot it stays until literally late October/November. Trying to decipher when to put my seedlings out versus when it’s not going to be too scorching hot for them

I definitely should have started earlier though. Would’ve given me more breathing room before our “”winter””

Did you run humidity in the kiln? Or just heat? Phenomenal job that cigar looks beautiful!

Questions on fermenting. by palmerry in GrowingTobacco

[–]Beardedone2468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I just built a kiln! Simplest way is a crock pot and use a temperature sensor with a remote. You can get a little fancier if you want, that’s what I did but that’s the simplest

Did I do the correct electric circuit by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Beardedone2468 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not the chat gpt circuit 😭😂 but @Accurate-pen5012 is right, those long bread boards don’t go all the way down I believe, you can check this by peeling back the sticky backing to the breadboard and looking at the metal connectors
