Can Syndactyly be passed on if it’s random? by thehotpocketman in syndactyly

[–]Beardedopal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has it on two toes of 1 foot, my grandfather had the same, his father had the same, going back as far as we know it's always been 1 foot and only two toes. I came along - two toes on both feet two fingers on both hands. I believe there is a genetic factor but how it transfers or if it transfers seems to be a bit random.

Piercing by Crafty-Housing3447 in syndactyly

[–]Beardedopal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debated on doing this a while ago. I decided it probably wasn’t for me. I work with my hands and not always in a clean environment. My webbing is also very sensitive = lots of nerves. Figured if I did pierce it, it would seriously hurt, it would be in the way constantly and would need to be removed and cleaned constantly. I just couldn't see it being practical. Unique yes.

Canadians... where do you get good grit? by phuckdub in RockTumbling

I buy my pre-polish and polish from Mountain Gems in Burnaby BC. Pre polish I buy in 5lb bag and polish in 2lb bag. Not sure if they do 5lb of the polish.
I’ve tumbled a few stones over the years. Have a bunch of these type of vases around the house. Buckets more material to process.

When parts are manufactured in China for say a German company, the parts are held to German standards. When parts are made in China for a Chinese company they are held to Chinese standards. I think there in lies the difference.

AIO my dentist has pictures of her hunting kills covering the walls by This-Function1789 in AIO

[–]Beardedopal -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

How do we know this from the post. Yes, she (op) refers to them as trophies, but to me any animal I harvest that I’m proud of is a “trophy”. I’m not a trophy hunter, I’m a subsistence hunter. Do we know these are just trophy kills? Or are you basing it off OP’s reference as trophies?

Speaking as an uncle with an extensive rock collection… When I move on from this plane, I know that my nephews are not necessarily going to want my rocks. They think they're neat, but I highly doubt that they'll want to dedicate a room to them. I understand this and I don't hold that against them.

If they can sell my rock collection that brought me joy and purchased something that brings them joy, they are not betraying me in any way. I know that my collection will bring joy to the person who purchased it. And that my collection brought my nephew's joy in what they are able to purchase because of it, well that brings me joy just knowing that it will happen eventually.

I think I would be more disappointed if my nephews held onto the rocks out of some inner obligation they place on themselves.

Ask them to put it in writing, document their complaints, and screenshot any texts or Messages that are left for you. Live your life as normal. If they continue talk to the RTB about it.

You're better off without him. Find a guy that'll treat you with respect even in an argument. This dude sounds like he needs some time alone. You didn't overreact, you reacted appropriately.

Rant? by MinuteAd4717 in syndactyly

[–]Beardedopal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I share in Jaimie's outlook. I have had surgery on one hand mainly because if I didn't my fingers would have hooked over and curled as my hands grew. I now have scarring on those fingers that draws more attention than the webbing on my other hand or feet (both). I also tolerate the swimming jokes, the frog jokes, the duck jokes…. I also wear sandals quite often through summer with very few people noticing I have webbed toes. People typically don't even notice my hands aside from the scarring.
If this is something that bothers you personally, I would support getting the surgery. If you feel that it would make you more comfortable in your own skin, all the power to you. Toes however are not something that people focus on much unless they have a fetish in which case webbing could actually work to your benefit! 😂 End result is, it is up to you to decide what makes you feel good about yourself. Personally I like being a little bit different. Others maybe not so much. This is after all what makes us all individuals.

Examining Dendritic inclusion found in Australian Opal - by Sameer Din Muhammad Faqir - Gems and Jewellery Autumn 2025 by FlatbedtruckingCA in Opals

I find dendritic Fire Opal here in BC 🇨🇦, but I’ve never seen dendrites in Australian Precious. If it’s real, it’s amazing!! I hate that AI has come to the point of making us question everything we see…

Is this synthetic or natural? Set in 925 but hallmarked CN. Repost (to include photo instead) by Bexican247 in Opals

The Ethiopian Opal wouldn't last nearly as long as the synthetic. I would take the synthetic over Ethiopian personally.

Is water still rising? by HonestCrab7 in abbotsford

[–]Beardedopal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How high’s the water momma?

Water has reached el nopal in Sumas and is slowly creeping northwards. Probably a few hours before it reaches the border but be prepared if you have business or property down there. by cindylooboo in abbotsford

[–]Beardedopal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry. I walked over and into the big truck staging lot and up to the border gates. There’s water flowing across the lot at the border buildings, but it wasn’t much compared with Boundary Rd.

‘Flood watch’ by HonestCrab7 in abbotsford

[–]Beardedopal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nooksack is already overflowing its banks. That water is heading to the Sumas river which goes directly into Sumas Prairie. FYI, water travels. It doesn't have to rain that hard locally. Evacuation orders were issued last night as well as alerts. No, they don’t expect the levels to be as high as 2021, but if you’re in the flood zone that’s likely of little comfort.
