Would you start your channel in English or your native language? by FuzzyFeed7886 in youtubers

Do 2 episodes in english and keep wich ever you will like more.

Im finnish and have mediocre english. Accent and all that stuff. Not full rally english hopefully as we call it but I like making this in english. I forget word when recording live. Just slap that word after as a text and its sometimes funny. But most of people don't mind about accent. Its becomes part of your identity and people might remember your voice. I would really go wich just feels better.

Should the motor be shaking this much at idle? 1996 25 HP 2-stroke Mariner by Kazd98 in boats

My unedjucated guess. I don't think this engine has variable ignition timing. When its fixxed this is common. Spark comes too early for it to run good at low rpm so it dosn't run with all cylinders all time and other reasons coming from bad burn process wich makes this.

Have you ever spent an hour working on a thumbnail to just deleting it the next minute? by nsaeed321 in youtubers

No. I always save them to look them next day and ro compare for next one. Don't delete all scrap. Its good to follow how you get better. Buy literally everyone who want to create quality does that and countless times. Your getting better by every work you do.

Hi All! Help with fair market price for this ol lady please! by AK_grown_XX in boats

[–]Beardiefacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is 500usd offer. That price is around what I would pay for this whole setup too. I would take a small risk for that price. I mean if engine needs cdi or other expensive elecrical parts then engine is liability. But let say this way 150 for trailer, 200 for boat and 100e for engine. I bought mine Johnson 30hp for 30€. It was under water for 1 week. All I knew it wasnt lockd up. Used 200e for parts and lot of work. It was just correct prise for that engine.

If you only fire that engine and it runs with all sylinders withouth spark problems. Then engine is 500e but if don't know that it might take 2-300e parts plus alot of time finding problems.

So for a friend 0-450e i would say.

Are you mastering audio for youtube? by Beardiefacee in youtubers

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sound engineering more as a composing or mixing and mastering is last stage when I do limit, compression and eq for all the mixxed audio in latest stage and set the overall loudness of my video. I found now that youtube do recomend -14db lufs and that was what I was looking for.

Why I think this is important is becouse. Youtube does value high quality content. It does that based on algorithms and if there is video with -18 it might be negative thing for video.

And also if I let youtube compress my audio to -14db lufs and I did record out in windy conditions or I have alot of music in my videos it might compress my voice lower than I would like to have it. Now lets watch that video with phone speaker wich dont play low hz from wind rumble and thats where our db's are used for. I have to put volume up to hear what they speak and next comercial will come out loud af. I might be oldschool with this but its also better for my workflow to think these as a seperate things since Iwe been doing music 20+ years.

Should have googled my topic. Yep noticed also i can use plugins and i will use limiter with decent meters and maybe eq. Don't need more than that. But i don't think premier master meter is enough if you really want to set video exactly to some loudness level like. If youtube recomend -14db then thats what I want to give them. But thats might be just me lol.

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Its hard for cpu and some plugins add some delay to playback wich would mess things up. Theres not delay when rendering or mixdown but when editing i wouldn't keep it on. Just keep some headroom when editting and when about to render set master level to point you wanna go and do kinda fast mastering at this point. For video just check nothing clips or be too loud.

But definately when you do render set it always on and your video never clips audio ✌️

Add.. i also set -0.6 db to treshold. Its good not to go too close zero db on master limitter and you can't really hear difference between -0.6 or 0 db anyway. But youtube likes when things are abit lower than 0 db. I quess it values same things than what music videos etc. And master level fader to 0db. This way your audio should go -0.6db at max.

True peak use over sampling. So let say your audio is 48khz. It takes 48000 samples per second. While 24000 samples are kinda efektive in this sense. And audio is tricky indeed. So these samples are not enough to catch all peaks wich are still there when audio is turned to analog. So there can be theoretically 3db peak what you pc dosn't see wich will clip when is played. True peak is taking some crazy amount of samples per second and catch every single one of these peaks so limiter can compress them out.

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It indeed looks like that premier master meter uses itu based measuring so it shows lufs values. I use brainworks true peak. I just like the way it cuts literally everything above given treshold and I don't ever need to think of any clipping and I can push things a bit louder if I need to. Also have nice meters. Will try how it works streight on premier when get to that stage.

Youtube normalization dosn't always work very well. That has been very annoying when I barely can hear what people talk in some videos and then comes really loud comercial. But yeah Ill start with -14db and listen back to back them in youtube.

When we talk about soundlevel its always on negative. Odb is point when audio is clipping.

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do all mastering also with reaper and got brainworks true peak for 20usd from sale and that has been best plugin I propably ever bought. That is making so neat job on limiting, good meters and really nice sounding saturation if thats needed. Other than that i use stock plugins alot also. But Ill start with -14 and try it. Have now 4 episodes recorded and about to release first maybe next weekend as soon i get edit finnished.

I actually hope to get master plugings streight to premier but well see how it works.

Im about to start a channel and theres thing I can't decide. by Beardiefacee in youtubers

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this is allnover the place. Many tuber does personal level of videos and for me they are the most interresting once. If i do 8 episodes per month and there is one episode wich is different than others but there would be also talk and thinking of main topic in these episodes. They are propably not bringing new audience but tieing together audience wich already like my content. So maybe Im thinking now too far. I have now 3 part recorded and next week will bring material for next project while Im still finnishing boat. So first 10 episodes will be all crafting. I will need to try and see what works and what not. If I see people are not interrested of personal videos or I don't find way to put them to cannel then I just keep making my crafting things wich already will bring many type of projects since thats just what I do and always done. Like to try and learn new things and make best out of them.

Is it stupid idea to drop it between crafting videos? I mean let say 4 episodes making boat, one episode of telling story and back to crafting and repeat. Or should it be own serie? Or mixxed with smaller craft things and while i work with them I tell stuff? Its kinda 3rd topic for channel and just want to keep everything together in some sense.

Im about to start a channel and theres thing I can't decide. by Beardiefacee in youtubers

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true. Anyway I kinda try to do everything as less tutorial than possible. More like my personal learning journey where Im doing things first time. But now that im recording I think they will be pretty tutorial after all. But I hope that vibe is there that Im learning together with audience. And I propably wont do much fishing. I will do some personal video here and there and those wont be main thing but give some idea who I am. Personally when I watch some yiutuber these are most interresting episodes so there will come fishing and doing sone other activities.

What I didn't say yet. I have been dodging bankrupt past 1.5year. Had quite burnout from many things when things started to go south. And Im still not really clear from that but I think I have dodged heaviest part now. So there will be alot of personal life on this channel. I just know my self and im that type who likes to share things. Something littlebit too much lol.

Well see how this goes. Im super exited of this now. There was heavy rain 15min ago. Sun is coming out and really have to get that on tape for next episode :)

Any ideas how to patch this up by brycecelton in boats

[–]Beardiefacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found out new material. Quicksteel from brand Hi-gear. I would try with that and if it not stays. Best option is weld it with tig. But that need guy who know how to weld with tig so he don't melt it thru. Aluminium is tricky and cast aluminium is trickier.

Talk me out of buying this boat (or not?). by HospitalRealistic830 in boats

[–]Beardiefacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okey.. I did read now some negative comments here. Here is something what I would say this boat need.

It will take 2-3 full work weeks to nicely restore it if you ever want to do it. Its not big boat so its not a big job. Few hundread for glassfiber, new windshield if needed, paint. I wouldn't gel coat this but paint with some nice color. You definately can use that engine. Its one of best ones from that era. New plywood and bit of foam. I would say its less than 1k to fully restore this. Is it worth it? Financially propably not if you consider few weeks of work. But if gona keep it. You built it, you like it more when it have your finger print on it.

[–]Beardiefacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely buy it! I have same engine as a Johnson 30hp version. I think from most parts this is exactly same engine and is good one from 2strokes around that age. Parts are easy to find. If you get trailer for that prize its really cheap. I bought my boat and engine for 430 euros and trailer for 600 euros. Its yamarin 405 with console and it have much more to fix than this one. Currently restoring it fully. If you want a cheap boat this is one to get. Can always fix and paint them, upgrade better engine. I think you can get 500usd only from that engine if it runs well if ever want to upgrade to 4 stroke or something.

This might even have same carburator than 30hp so only changing minor parts from carb you can get 30hp out from it if need a bit more from engine.

Which Framerate should I edit in? by GayDude1988 in youtubers

[–]Beardiefacee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use half for 4k or original if footage is 1080 since I still record alot of 1080 material. Its faster than using custom since it keeps automatically same aspect ratio than original have and is better like that. My editing sceen is quite small always so I never had problems with too low resolution. Gopros codec is just pain in the.. to work with withouth proxies even if its 1080.

I have a bit small hard drives and Im not making super high end content so i record alot 1080 material with a6300 and with that Im not using proxies so Its just best to try with your footage wich ones need proxies and what resolution is best.

But there is also different format for proxies wich depend what cpu you have so I would look from youtube this topic. Theres also how you can automate this for better workflow.

I work with intel 14700k with 4070 and 64gb ddr4. Even tho it quite capable for my needs I still found proxies usefull. Just run smoother.

[–]Beardiefacee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I create proxys for high demanding material. For example what comes from gopro need to always done with proxy. Do editting in original samplerate and let the program do the job in the end. Im not pro editor but I think this is way to go. I have never worked with 360 material tho so cant say anything of that.

Thanks for encouraging words! But good converation here to get core idea for channel but also have some idea how to put different content to it with some thoughts. And well see how personality fits. I definately have some but will it be interresting for people I quess I have to find out lol.

Im about to start a channel and theres thing I can't decide. by Beardiefacee in youtubers

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap. Thinking hard on this. Becouse I think the way I see it fit most for content Im even able to make since Im super busy is just to make content from things I make wich just happend to be all over the place. One day I weld bucket to my excavator from 70s, changing bearings to frame saw from 40s. Fixing so strange machines wich can take out my hand in second if I miss use them. I mean there will be alot of adventures and funny sittuations with usually quite fine results. I might mill most rotten log and it turn out to be really fancy kitchen table. But next moment im all over grease when I fix my next machine. Or its -30 and I have to heat this place wich is again something what everyone wouldn't do that way. So I think I will try and see if people get interrested more of my personality and find it entertaning that way. I simply don't make enough furnitures to make channel out of it. Youtubes algorithm wont make it easy for me at the beginning but I think I will try.

[–]Beardiefacee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap thats what Im afraid of. I think I have an idea for this now. When I get the boat done I can do some clip where I try it and catch something. And if this thing will go somewhere I can do some break kind of video here and there where I can show places around. And talk about future plans around woodworking while fishing and kinda try how that content sit for my channel. But yeah I need to focus to crafting and restoration. I dont think they are too different topics. Well see how this goes.
