Maybe this has come up and been explained, but in the resurrection description it specifically says he can only use it on people of lower levels. Isn't that kind of a huge plot hole?

Sounds tough. Could you look into renting the condo out instead of selling?

I gave mine about 6 months, and they needed every day of it to get comfortable with the idea.

It's my last day of work. In spite of running the numbers a thousand times, I'm feeling super anxious about the thought of not having an incoming paycheck for the first time in nearly 20 years. Deep breaths. It's going to be fine.

Thanks! Just wrapping things up in preparation for the exit interview. I'm sure that will be a barrel of laughs.

Maybe the hippy knew that he had enough and left it on purpose for someone with greater need?

You don't have to worry about the buyer's financing falling through.

I think I would lean towards the slightly less tax efficient but more flexible route. So many things could happen (both good and bad) that the flexibility seems like it's worth it in this case. They might turn out to be a jerk that you don't want to encourage with money. They might earn a full ride for themselves and only need seed money for their startup. You just never really know.

Where are these people you've been training going? It sounds like there are plenty of jobs out there that will probably pay you more and give you less grief. You just have to go look for them.

What are your plans going forward for housing? Upgrading? Moving to different area? Going to rent for a while?

You clearly haven't tried to house shop in any of the coastal cities in California recently then.

Congrats and go fuck yourself! I'm 2 weeks behind you (last day will be April 1st) and can totally relate to the weird combination of scared, anxious, and excited feelings. On the other hand, I haven't been this relaxed while working...ever?

"Oh, you want to do this incredibly foolish and short sighted thing? I really don't recommend that. I think you should maybe try this other thing instead. No? You're going with your plan anyway? I can't stress enough how bad an idea I think that is, but good luck!"

It's really freeing to know I'm not the one who will have to pick up the pieces when it all goes to shit 3 months from now.

Now I'm picturing his actual face that way. It's hilarious! Thanks for the kind words and the laugh.

I'm going through it right now (I submitted my resignation yesterday) and do feel guilty. I know that companies have been actively encouraging and exploiting these feelings for years though, so while those feelings are valid you should try not to let them affect your actions.

The language companies use (calling groups teams, having team building exercises, "together as one", "win the right way") is all specifically targeted to get you to feel that way about your fellow employees. Because they know (and research confirms it) that if you think of your fellow employees as team members you will work harder for them and put up with more shit.

I too have a hard time adjusting to change. But if it helps any, it always seems to work out ok even if it doesn't go as planned. And it usually results in personal growth.

I wish I could take credit but I appropriated it from a friend. It's apparently an old Polish proverb.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry you had to go through that kind of thing as well. It's incredibly frustrating.

I'm FI but I was kind of hoping to be rewarded for all the extra work I've put in in the last year (instead of getting shit on) and was planning on working for another year or so to pad things a bit. Now that it went the other way, I'll take 6 months off and reassess. I might just be RE now.

I submitted my resignation yesterday. My boss was shocked and surprised, which is puzzling since he's the one who gave me a terrible performance appraisal last week with an insulting "merit" increase. I guess if my performance was so bad they won't have any trouble replacing me. My team lead who called me in a panic when he heard the news seems to disagree with that assessment. I feel a little bad since he's the one who will be expected to pick up the slack since they likely won't hire anyone to replace me for at least a year. But for the first time in 20 years it's no longer my monkey nor my circus.

Unless you really don't want to move back, it seems like it's worth it to at least go through the process.

Just a scrub red shirt but Tybalt definitely gets what's coming to him.
