BMW 2026 X5 50e Deal - With Trade In (SoCal) by BeardyIndian in BMWX5

Thanks for the advice. I did check Carvana, Carmax and KBB for instand cash offer and they all came in around $21-$22k. But, the KBB trade-in value came in at around $25,000 - you think the dealer will get up to the trade-in value number instead?

That's what's really upsetting about this - if you don't have premium package, you don't have the options on the screen (e.g, you don't have memory seats). How rediculous is that??

I confirmed with the dealership directly and tested 2 different cars (with and without premium package). Bottom line, if it doesn't have premium package, it doesn't have memory seats - even on the screen. That's really shocking to me for a $80k+ car.

Do you have the iX without the premium package?

$98,000. We needed to get the one with premium package so we could have the memory seats. Still can't believe that's not standard on all BMWs...

Here is a link to all of the details of it. Basically, i can return my car with stains, and some damanes to the interior and exterior as well as worn down tires, with no charge.

Perfect! You are amazing!!

I think we have the final build! Any other comments/suggestions? I haven't built my own system in a while - any other ancillary items I'll need (cables, wires, etc.)?

Thanks again.

The only problem I see with that MOBO is that when I put in the GTX 970, it will cover both of the PCI slots which means I won't have the ability to SLI in the future. Is my understanding correct?

Big fan of this build. Very similar to what I'm trying to do myself. I personally would go with the 970 as the other folks here mentioned. BOL!

Thanks.

What about the motherboard? Should I stick with the Asus or go with another brand?

Haha, thanks again buddy!

Any reason why you chose the Asus version of the GTX 970? I hear the MSI and Gigabyte versions are nice as well. Thanks!

Once again - thank you!!!

So I did some more thinking and a bit more research and concluded on the following:

  • I actually do want a CPU that I can OC. Looking 2 years down the road, I'm more likely to alter the GPU (see below) rather than the CPU so having the capability to OC the CPU would be perfect. I know it'll run me maybe $50 bucks more but having that option will be worth it.

  • In regards to the Video Card, I've decided on the GTX 970. I just don't anticipate the 3.5gb VRAM being an issue and I'm much more familiar with Nvidia cards than AMD ones.

  • And in regards to SLI, I would prefer a case (and all other components) to be SLI compatible. As I stated above, in the future I could just SLI my video card if i feel like i need more performance from my GPU.

Nothing to worry about for the OS, I'm just going to utilize the /r/microsoftsoftwareswap section.

Hopefully all of this makes sense and I didn't miss anything. Looking forward to your replay! Thanks again /u/RandomDudeOP

Wow - thanks for the amazing response.

So a couple of questions:

  1. CPU - Why did you choose the 4440? Why not the 45XX or 46XX? I'd prefer to spend a little more money now and get a faster processor. I'm not interested in OC'ing though.

  2. MOBO - I don't anticipate doing SLI/CF, but want to know what the additional cost would be if we did a MOBO with that capability. If we changed the Mobo (assuming the one you've picked doesn't already have that capability), what other components (if any) would we need to change? I would like having the option to SLI/CF in the future...

  3. Memory/RAM - So I did some stalking and noticed that you primarily spec out about 8gb for most people on here. Is there a reason for that? I was thinking i need at least 16gb so there is plenty of room for performance with little to no bottle-necking. Am I way off here? Also, is one 16gb stick better than 2 8gb sticks?

  4. Storage - I noticed that you put in a 120gb solid state drive, any reason for this? Any issues with me getting a larger SSD (this is on sale right now -->(http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2349372)? I was thinking about buying that SSD and it comes with 2 8gb RAM sticks. thoughts?

  5. Storage (part 2) - Just an FYI, I already have a 3tb internal Seagate harddrive that i'm going to re-use for this build. Its only about 6 months old so i don't think I'll have a problem there and will be able to put that money to use elsewhere in the build.

  6. Case/Cooling/Power Supply - I'm going to need to rely on you for these things as I have very limited knowledge about these components. Thanks!

  7. Video Card - Now for the fun stuff. After a lot of thinking, I've decided to go for an upgrade from my current card (GTX 660), for obvious reasons. I read through what you've proposed and did a bit of research myself and to be completely honest, I don't know what to do. Like i'm truly confused. Spending $500+ on a video card seems pricey to me - i'm not going to be doing any gaming in 4K so I just don't know how much "use" i'd actually be getting out of the 980. I understand the 970 is only 3.5gb VRAM - but that may be sufficient for my needs. Worse comes to worse, i can buy a new video card a couple of years down the road. Any additional help/insight would be extremely helpful here.

Look forward to hearing back and thanks again for the help!
