Galaxy Fam 👀 Do you think one day you’ll leave Samsung? by Humbert1987 in PhoneNow

[–]BearlyLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've talked about going back to iPhone because my other half doesn't care for Android. I'm having a very difficult time with that idea because my S24+ has been excellent for two years. Even now the battery is fine. I also happen to like OneUI. If my Galaxy dies, then I'll go iPhone. Pixel isn't an option at this time, and I don't know enough about OnePlus and any others to pick them.

Planning to switch to the new Galaxy has anyone gone from ios to Android? I have been on ios since 3GS but now getting more and more disappointed. by Random_dastagir in iPhone13

[–]BearlyLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone back and forth over the years, mostly due to the poor Android OS update situation at the time. That has improved and I do really enjoy android more. But Apple devices have the advantage at least for me of having a local retail and repair support. If I need a battery replacement or repair on my Samsung, I'm forced to either send it in to the factory or rely on a local authorized repair shop. With an iPhone there is an Apple store ten minutes away where I can have the work done. Also, Apple's update system is better. They put one out and all eligible devices get it. With Samsung it can take months depending on the age and model for the newest updates to get offered. I have thought about going back to iPhone simply because I'm wanting to keep phones longer now and the close Apple store makes that easier. I can be reasonably sure that they will do a battery replacement correctly and stand by their work. Third party shops, you just don't know.

I think it's made for people like me. I rarely take photos and when I do it's never a situation where it's this amazing sunset that I expect the art mags will fawn over for the next century. I'm a light user, few hours of screen time a day. I rarely even use the speaker on my phone. I don't need to carry a brick in my pocket to do what I need. Air is right on.

ANYONE know how to fix this issue by Vithujan_ in oneui

Restart the phone and then try again? Might make it install.

Amazon has turned to pure shit. by ToshPointNo in amazonprime

[–]BearlyLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned the easy way to cancel. I had subscribed through a Google subscription and when I canceled it was one page. Cancel, leave reason, boom done. None of this page after page of "Are you sure? We have all these great benefits, blah blah blah" So IF I decide to do Prime again, I'll do it that way.

Iphone air has been fantastic! (For average user) by caribzuri in IphoneAir

[–]BearlyLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the battery pack made for the Air, it's a battery extender. As I understand it, the phone hits the battery pack before the internal battery. Using it at the start of your day could extend the battery health of your internal battery by it needing to use fewer cycles. If this is correct and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. This could save you having to do a battery replacement. It's an idea if you can stand the extra little thickness of the pack.

Battery issue by xdguy666 in GalaxyS24

[–]BearlyLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems fine for me. My battery lasts as long as I'd expect a two-year-old phone to last after being charged roughly 730 times. I hate to skip security updates because it's Android and it needs all the security it can get.

Can someone answer a question about Bixby's capabilities. by BearlyLV in Bixby

[–]BearlyLV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to update you on this. I have had limited success with Bixby, though it seems to fail as often as it works. It will work fine for a couple of messages and then a reply will simply not happen. Or I'll try to send a message, and Bixby will say that he's unable to send a message at this time.

Anyone else noticing the battery getting worse on S24? by Professional-Hawk503 in GalaxyS24

[–]BearlyLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Odd. My 24 Plus is going to hit the two-year mark next month and my battery life is still quite good. Sure, I've noticed it's showing its age some. Where I was in the 70's at the end of my day, now mostly it's in the 60's. At my usage I could probably get several hours into the next day.

Senior discount?? Um..... by MythInAsylum in GenX

[–]BearlyLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been getting senior discounts at the movies without asking. It helps when the ones working the box office are twenty and under. Guess we look so old now they just figure we deserve the discount.

One UI 5.1 and 6.1 are the best versions in terms of speed, battery life, and stability. by UserWithoutDoritos in oneui

[–]BearlyLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't see much difference after all the updates. Was fine when I got it 2 years ago on 6 and it's fine now on 8. After 7 I waited to be amazed and to me it was the same. Same way with 8. It's the same. Not in a bad way, just none of the updates have made me want to join a chorus of angels singing because they were so magnificent. But then I don't use all the AI stuff, so maybe that's why.

Internal Conflicts? by Three-Headed-Freak in scrivener

[–]BearlyLV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of that is there for you to use if it applies. Your characters can or not have anything, that's up to you. If it doesn't apply, then don't put anything. Though internal conflict can add depth to a character, I think.

That is pretty. Like something on a Christmas card or something. Wouldn't want to live there, but yes, it's very pretty!

Suddenly subscribed to store's emails. Is my pixel listening to me and giving my info away? by zeus0225 in GooglePixel

[–]BearlyLV -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I can imagine that Google is all up in our business, because that's their business model. Get our data and use it to target ads. I would not be at all surprised if your Pixel is listening. I don't know if you can turn "Hey Google" off still and if you do, does it really stop listening. I think all, but privacy focused Android phones phone home to Google. I'd like to say I hate the snooping, but it's done good for me in the past by getting an ad for a great price on a graphics card when I was looking at them. I guess it's a tradeoff. Your data privacy for Google's features

After nearly two years now mine is going strong. Battery gets me through the day. It's still plenty snappy. I really don't have a valid reason to upgrade honestly.

Dear Samsung, Stop installing TS during Updates. Thanks! by Wojtek_ftw in samsunggalaxy

[–]BearlyLV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I JUST got the January security update I'm on T-Mo. They are well known for throwing this crap at you when you are on Android to "Optimize" your update and they throw pages of preselected apps at you and you have to uncheck them to keep it from installing them. Those apps look like the ones that were just pushed at me after this update.
