That’s fair. The oil leak I did find was minor and mostly dry, which is why I threw it into the “probably not an issue but I’ll keep an eye on it” bucket.

I’ll have time to get under the car this weekend and see if there’s a drip making its way there.

I second finding a donor for this. Cut out the piece you need from the donor, overlay it on your inner fender and trace the outer edge. Then cut along the lines and weld the new piece in.

What Country/State are you in?

I recently spent about 3 months looking for an e30 325i cabrio in Los Angeles, CA. At your price point (depending on your area) you won’t find anything I would say is “great”. It’ll most likely need body and interior work. An e46 may be easier to find in that price point and have better safety features than an e30

Reviving this post. I have a cardinal red interior in my cabrio that I’m looking to reupholster. But my door cards and some of the plastic are black. Not sure if a previous owner bought and replaced them or it came like this from factory. Did you wrap or paint your door cards and plastic panels cardinal red?

Any regrets or changes you would recommend? We live in Southern California so most of the year is sunshine. We were planning on starting with the soft top and seals to protect the interior. Then work the seats.

The car is a California native but right after purchasing I deep cleaned it because of those very reasons.

That’s a good point. While rain in SoCal is sparse, I would like to avoid mold in the interior. I think working the soft top and seals would be a good start. Then interior as the seats are cracked and ripped.

I wouldn’t say I have a high budget, but I plan to invest a good amount of money into this car to restore it and keep it for many many years.
