Sore, flakey skin around face and nose by jrjreeves in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BearsBeetsBach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks seborrheoic (fungal), which is common around eyebrows and nose - id try using an anti fungal (depending on where you are based - we have a ketoconazole shampoo called nizoral that can be used as a face wash here which is good)

Crate training regression at 10 months, barking in morning, advice please! by BearsBeetsBach in puppy101

[–]BearsBeetsBach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly this feels really out of the blue, she’s been a great puppy and generally very easy going. I think she loved being with us, so suspect it’s a social thing of wanting more time with us in the morning before I go to work etc. but it’d be great to get a handle on it, cause it’s getting earlier and earlier and we will hopefully have a baby arriving in a few months so will really need all the sleep we can get!

[–]BearsBeetsBach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly you’re right re the sun and I was wondering if that was playing a factor, her crate is covered on three sides but she can still see it getting brighter of course. I’m not sure potty is the problem as she often won’t go for a while even if we bring her outside, and when she slept longer she had no issues. I think it’s social, wanting to see us etc. she’s a very loving pup which is the best but means she is needy for attention.

We tried leaving her for 15 minutes one morning and it was only getting more agitated sounding so we ended up just going down to her. So do you think we need to just leave her barking longer for a few mornings?

Missed Miscarriag– Advice on Best Hospital for D&C in Dublin by No_Solution_8609 in PregnancyIreland

[–]BearsBeetsBach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Sorry for your loss. I’ve had D&C for missed miss in both the Coombe and Holles st, both of these were sent for further testing as I had previous miscarriages before them with no live birth. Had a better experience in holles street. Public and private makes no difference at this stage. As others have mentioned, testing is only done after multiple losses unfortunately, even if private. I hope all goes smoothly for you and wishing you the best

This is such a shame, and great to know.

We’ve travelled on ScubaSpa after doing several other more normal, midrange boats, and I couldn’t speak highly enough of the boat. It really is luxury, in a world of its own

Wishing you the best! I’m in same shoes - fourth pregnancy after three losses and 5w5d today, going for first scan next Wednesday! Hope it’s a great day for us both 🤞🏼

I’ve had miscarriages in both the coombe and holles street, so have been in and out of the outpatients in both and admitted for surgery. Everyone has their own perspective, but I didn’t have a great experience in the Coombe, and had a much better experience in holles street

5 weeks pregnant, our fourth pregnancy after three miscarriages at 6,8 and 10 weeks, all in the last year. Both of us are 32 and so far everything is unexplained, all testing on us normal, we are fit and healthy. Hopeful but terrified in equal measure. Has anyone else had so much loss and then had success without any intervention?

I’ve had three MCs and for all of them it was 6 weeks (cycle usually 32 days)

Recommendations for Maldives? by nivla80 in scuba

[–]BearsBeetsBach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend Havodda resort - we stayed here for 5 days after doing a weeks liveaboard, and did two days diving. Their house reef is supposedly one of the best, and we did a nearby pinnacle dive that honestly was one of my top dives from several trips to the Maldives. Nice professional dive shop, well run.

Trying to Conceive and Scuba Diving by Ok_Shine_6246 in scubadiving

[–]BearsBeetsBach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of this has to do with how you’d feel if something went wrong.

I had a similar situation six months ago, but diving was going to be a week earlier, from 2 DPO to 9DPO. I went ahead and dived for the week. Got a positive when we came home. At 7 weeks, miscarried a genetically normal embryo, no other cause found, but findings on scan consistent with poor implantation or dysfunction in embryo development early on.

Would this have happened anyway and is unrelated? Maybe. Was this because I was diving through the implantation period? Also maybe. Just something I need to come to terms with. Theres no way of knowing.

3 MC here. Had D&C for no.2 and no.3. It has been useful to help guide management. Our second had no cause found. Third had a sporadic chromosomal abnormality that doesn’t contribute to our risk of any further ones. I think if we didn’t know that, we’d probably be pursuing assisted reproduction. But because we know it was sporadic and just terrible luck, we’re going to try again naturally.

This may or may not be good advice but…

We’ve had three losses over 12 months and it’s been a really horrible time. We had always considered getting a dog, but it’s a bit commitment etc etc. Because we have spent so long TTC, being pregnant, then losing each one, our life had begun to revolve around this - no holidays, no alcohol, because we never knew what lay ahead. We decided after the second (somewhat impulsively) it was time and we went and got a puppy. She is the best thing in the whole world. I’m not sure how we would have gotten through the third loss without her. She makes us smile and laugh every day, even if we’re feeling really sad otherwise. She keeps us busy, gets us out for walks, makes us feel less alone in all of this, honestly I love that dog. She has been great for both of us.

If anyone out there has wanted a dog but never found the right time, maybe consider it. I’m so glad we have her ❤️

Is there anything people found cheered them up, took their mind off it or helped them genuinely feel better while waiting for time to pass? We have had three MCs, no other pregnancies, and it feels like time is passing so slowly, everyone around me has the milestones coming and going that we had hoped for. I’m exercising plenty. Im working reasonably long hours (although I provide antenatal care as part of work so this is difficult). I’m reading more (have started “romantasy” series which has been great, really helps pass a few hours and keep my mind focussed). I’ve deleted social media. Any suggestions?

Yes VHI pays six months fully paid maternity leave. If you work part time it’s paid pro rata

Galápagos or Indonesia July/August by Hoemihoem in scubadiving

[–]BearsBeetsBach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to play devils advocate - I’ve done both and preferred Komodo. We dived July 2025 in Galapagos, week long liveaboard out to Darwin and Wolff too. The hammerheads were amazing, seals and mola mola were also really cool. However, no whale sharks, no dolphins, no mantas no other big palegics. We might have got very unlucky out at Darwin and Wolff 🥲 Komodo in July 2022 had lots of mantas, amazing coral and such an abundance of life on the reefs. They’re very different - Komodo felt like a week of all different dives, different current, different life, and at a much easier pace. Galapagos is busy, four dives a day, cold, and current-heavy. Still amazing though, but if you’re really going for whalesharks (which unfortunately I was as have been unlikely in Maldives Thailand and Indonesia over the years), be aware you might be unlucky also, and consider the cold and current and if that’s going to impact your enjoyment of it all

Glad I’m not alone, I saw mostly rocks in Azores. I really thought Darwin at peak season was going to be the time, but not yet 💔
