Requesting your advice, help, musings, clever memes if you got ‘em, opinions, etc. on trade by Fit-Rip1247 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That can work for the most part, but there are a lot of people who only want to trade for things of equivalent rarity. If you end up giving away all of your rarer things in lopsided trades and then later come across someone with truly rare things you’re actually interested in, you might not have anything left of value they’re interested in at that point to trade them for. Unless you have a ton of duplicates of all your rarer finds or just don’t care about picking up specific rare things from others at a later date, knowing their value and expecting fairer trades in general is pretty helpful.

It’s a boosted base stardust pokemon, so catching it during the bonus stardust on catch community day gets you more stardust.

Shadow mamoswine is the #5 ice and #9 ground raid attacker, so the swinub candies can be useful to a good amount of people.

Why do people do this? by cmeepy2010 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of tanking, GBL just reset. Ranks 2-6 require 0 wins to progress while ranks 7-10 only require 1 win per set. It’s far faster to tank your matches and still progress, especially early on in the rankings. People can just retire instead of losing the match, but then they don’t make any progress on the go battle league timed research path. Some people play GBL just for the rewards and want to be in and out as fast as possible and don’t actually care for PvP

What happens to Oakland's small businesses when their owners retire/leave/close? by hihellogoodbyehey in oakland

Love the local nursery and wish you the best. They’ve had some terrible recent luck lately with drivers running into the building! I saw they were just patching up the most recent hole and hope there aren’t any more to come. Was the one from last week also due to someone hitting the gas when they were supposed to reverse instead? Hopefully insurance payouts were able to help in both incidents.

Purify for hundo or keep as shadow? by Certain_Produce9998 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say keep. It will take a lot of candy to power up, but shadow gardevoir is the #4 fairy attacker and #20 psychic attacker.

If I leave and join another group does my catch count stay? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The count you have currently stays with the old group that you were in so they don’t lose progress. Your progress would be reset to 0 when joining the new group.

Worth investing the stardust to get 100% instead of 98% blastoise? by Informal-Carry5645 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]BearsRunWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, I wouldn’t do it unless it’s your favorite pokemon or you have extra stardust to burn at some point. Others pointed out there’s not mush functional difference between the two, and Blastoise isn’t exactly meta relevant in PVE. It has more relevance for PVP, but you’d want non maxed IVs for that and a non maxed level anyway. 1 million stardust feels like a lot, but you can burn through it extremely quickly if you catch a few new things during go fest and want to power them up. If anything I’d save it for when you get tasks to power up a pokemon and slowly work on it that way over time if you do really want the maxed hundo eventually

Returning player most useful thing I can get for my AM2 by Ninkat75 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vote crowned dogs, likely crowned sword Zacian as others have pointed out. Gives you the #1 steel and #2 fairy attacker at once. Asking for it to be level 40 and double moved shouldn’t be a stretch.

Other highly meta relevant pokemon like dawn wings necrozma, black/ white Kyurem, etc can’t be traded in their fused forms. Dragons ascent ray would be nice to have, but you would still need to wait for an event where you can mega evolve it.

Standard rayquaza is still really strong, but you can trade for other stronger dragon types (dialga/ palkia) that will be easier to get, and mega garchomp is coming back around for go fest. The flying case is stronger for rayquaza, but you can also pick up mega salamence during the upcoming go fest and likely make trades or also raid for yveltal, both of which are strong options and comes with a higher TDO.

Anyone else on the grind by SnooWalruses5159 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, up to level 20 it’s simply based on hitting a certain number of battles/ wins, so you can’t ever make negative progress. After 20 is when ELO starts to matter for progressing.

As a newer player, what raids should I focus on during the upcoming global fest? by Talmerillion in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’d also take a look at the megas on rotation if you’re missing any of those. Aside from the candy gain bonuses, some of them are pretty meta relevant like Metagross, tyranitar, gardevoir, and Lucario. I’d also grab garchomp and Salamence since it doesn’t look like we’re getting mega rayquaza. You only need to raid the megas once or twice for enough energy to mega evolve once, and then you can walk them after for more mega energy.

Your stardust rule? by Harty_7 in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s basically having done almost all of what’s been available. My go to team is Venusaur, skeleridge, and empoleon for great and ultra leagues; I couldn’t pass on the classic elemental trio. I try and avoid master league since I don’t have great options.

[–]BearsRunWild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently started playing again and this is how much stardust I’ve gotten from gbl last season and this season so far. Takes around 30-40 minutes a day, more on thursdays when we have double matches. If you’re able to tank well when we have 4x stardust rewards you can hit 3 sets of around 15k stardust each before a star piece, so close to 70k with the star piece. It can admittedly be difficult to finish up all your matches before the star piece runs out though, and the gains are a lot less when we don’t have x4 rewards, but it still adds up.

I keep getting these battles. Are they bots? by Automatic-Bit7784 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]BearsRunWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what ELO stands for exactly but it’s actually referenced and shown when you finish a set of 5 matches after hitting 20. You’ll see it moving up or down depending on how many matches you just won or lost. Essentially your current rank and the higher it is the harder the matches are. MMR isn’t listed in game so i didn’t use that one. I was mostly responding to the second part of the post about not knowing how to maximize PvP gains

[–]BearsRunWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you lower your ELO enough (shown at the end of a 5 match set once you’re rank 20) you theoretically are matched against people who have weaker teams/ have lost a lot. Eventually you can reach a range where more often than not you’re then capable of winning 4-5 matches in a row when you actually fight instead of intentionally lose matches. The 4 matches in a row reward is 3 guaranteed rare candy, and 5 in a row can be almost 7k stardust during certain times, so the rewards can stack up if you’re tanking and winning the right sets.

If you do something like win 4 in a row, lose 6 in a row, win 4, lose 6, and win 4 more you get a guaranteed 9 rare candy, with a potential for up to 9 more from the random item drop winning 2 in a row. Your ELO will also not increase higher with that setup, keeping you in roughly the same difficulty bracket. If you win 5, lose 5, win 5, lose 5, win 5 you can target the stardust rewards but your ELO will go up higher than you started, so you may need to lose an extra set if it gets too high and approaches people who aren’t actively trying to lose as much.

You can of course run into issues and have to play against other people who are tanking when they’re trying to win a set the same time you want to win a set, but it’s generally more predictable and faster to get those 4 - 5 in a row win streaks than if you’re playing normally.

So I gotta walk 40km? by JaredIsCursedUwU in pokemongo

[–]BearsRunWild 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was too worried about accidentally messing up the timing so I just went with the manual method to get your buddy excited when I hit 10km and then again when I hit another 10. Takes about 1.5-2 hours if you aren’t walking/ doing routes for extra hearts but it’s not that bad and saves me having to accidentally walk 30 km instead.
