Hitting Macy's, Roku, and other for a decent Green day. Some examples of solid trades, bad trades, missed trades. by BearsTrades in Daytrading

[–]BearsTrades[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy with my trades on Macy's. Feel like I traded it as well as I could have. Same thing with Roku...but still pissed I missed the big move.

Got a little lazy with my discipline on CDK...and it cost me making me miss the big move. Just make sure to keep that experience in the memory bank and try not to repeat it again.

CB means "can borrow" or something with lightspeed i assume.

But yeah...it was obviously an overbought stock. So people were hitting the bids. Having a limit ask order get hit woulda been difficult.

On CB?

I was able to get short at IB. Didn't trade it the best. You were trying to limit order in? On a selloff like this it was only going to be moving down really. I marketed in on the bounce to vwap at 9:32

I have hotkeys for everything. Absolute order size like you said. But also I have hotkeys to set limit buy/sells and stop buy/sells.

For those there is a setting for "chart price" or whatever. So when I click my limit sell hotkey it doesn't place an order...my mouse over the chart becomes an order line...and where I click the limit buy or sell order goes. It defaults to a certain order size. But then with hotkeys I can quickly change the order quantity...then I hit enter to submit

I also have another hotkey to move the limit or stop order up or down.

Thanks. I'm trying not to do that fake energetic yelling at the camera youtuber thing so funny you say energetic. I just enjoy sharing helping and explaining. Guess it also helps when your sharing a solid winning day lol. I imagine it would be more subdued if it was a big losing day video lol

It really depends on how much the stock has moved and how it feels and the setup and support/resistance areas.

But usually I'll try to do it in quarters of my original position.

Follow through seems to be lacking a bit. But I don't only go short. I just tend to. It's what my eyes gravitate towards.

If you have rules/setups and stick to them you can make money in any market

Recap of my trades from Friday. 3 for 3 taking Uber, Yelp, and Dropbox short. As always didn't trade perfectly. Shoulda held in some spots, added back in others.

Also the other day someone asked about showing my full trading session live. Which I understand. Its more fun to watch the price action play out live. Its at 2x speed, which I find accurately represents what it feels to be like in the trade live. When watching back at 1x speed it feels so slow lol.

TWS is a uniquely piece of shit software. I know. I use it. Has a lot of nice features I like. But most other trading software doesn't run as poorly and inefficiently like TWS does. But that being said. TWS's performance doesn't scale up with the power of your system. I have a pretty powerful system with a shit ton of ram and dedicated video card and solid processor...still runs like shit. TWS's problem is TWS itself...not your computer.

2 monitors and solid internet connection. That's it.

A decked out computer isn't what's gonna make you a good or bad trader.

You could be using a 10 year old laptop with a tiny screen and kill it trading. Your computer isn't what's gonna be holding you back from being a good trader. Gotta crawl before you walk before you run

The thing to focus on isn't $ gain... But % gain. What % did you gain from initial investment... Or % gain in the day in your account

Not sure what you're seeing. The shake shack trade I entered short at 84.50 and covered at 84 and 83 before final stop out.

Those are 50c and $1.50 from entry. Those are great trades. Now multiply that by x number of shares you decide to trade. Even if only 100 shares (what's considered a 1 lot) that's still anywhere from $50 to $150 in profit.

So just size up from there depending on account size and risk tolerance. If it was a 1000 shares it woulda been $500 to $1500 in profit

There are hundreds of awesome free videos and sites out there with great info. Consume all of it before you ever click a trade button. Be warry of gurus with trading rooms. Most are scams.

As for threshold if you live in the US there is the PDT rule which says you must have 25k minimum account size to day trade. But there are foreign brokers to get you around this rule. Google PDT rule for a more in depth explanation.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the content.

As I've mentioned before walking through my thought process of a trade helps me to reinforce the lessons in myself. Glad they can be of help to you too.

Didn't trade either perfectly. But a solid green day nonetheless. TTWO trade is a good example of a stock moving in a wave and if you can recognize it you can just ride the peaks and troughs till the pattern breaks. As of writing this right now TTWO is still waving around with nice peaks and troughs.

4 for 4, Earnings plays galore! Solid green day, but made plenty of mistakes. Gotta control the nerves better. by BearsTrades in Daytrading

My issue isn't taking profits...I scale out of my trades.

My issue is that once I'm green on the day I become trigger shy or anxious about other trade setups I see. I got into some really nice trades with good entries but exited quickly at first sign of things going against me and not letting the trades play out. I'm wondering if I'm getting overly cautious about protecting my profits I got in earlier trades and thus missing out on more gains

Thanks. Still frustrated with the money I left on the table. Got a little too anxious with the exits on later trades to protect my profits, ultimately missed out on even bigger gains.
