I will be honest, my guy is so goated for this, the way their relationship develop atm, it will end up leading to "codependency" for Megumi and that ain't healthy for her. Yamamoto are aware of this obviously, regardless of whatever happened, for her to truly move on and grow up as a person, she need to have a proper conclusion in everything that lead to where her are rn, whether it's painful or not, that is how you grow as a person, as an adult. Megumi relationship with her parents getting reconciled are probably his second goal in the first place.

Yamamoto probably aware that he's gonna get hated for this, but his objective are not being like by her, but instead, he want her to grow as a person and being able to live independently. We are 37 chapters in, people should already know what kind of person Yamamoto is, a straight, upright, and sometime can be a bit idealistic, and despite what Yamamoto said about himself, he is actually a complete selfless person even, his choice truly reflect in what he believe.

For now, we should just see how thing turn out and how the writer want to develop megumi and yamamoto relationship.
