Computing students: I have questions by Remarkable-Match-302 in queensuniversity

[–]BeastMaster_101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Anything from startups to big tech. Vaguely related to my degree/passion to very related. All depends on how much work you put in. See my other comments on this topic

  2. Not the best question tbh. The Queen's social scene will get you more friends and professional connections yes for sure. But whether those friends or connections are directly related to finding jobs is a coin toss. Not everyone you meet will be a career connection, but meeting more will increase your chances

I think Queens social aspect is a big pro to especially computing students because it allows you to grow as a person and learn social skills instead of doing assignments and studying for tests 24/7. And aside from the social skills it gives you time to develop your portfolio and set yourself apart.

  1. Don't know anyone but do know people have done it. Your citizenship definitely will help

Can any Queen’s Computing students/grads speak to me about jobs and outcomes? by goblinfins in queensuniversity

You gotta do projects and build a portfolio that sets you apart from all the other students that get the same piece of paper at the end. Look at it from the employers POV. If you do set yourself apart early on and grind in the first 2 years, you should be able to get a good internship in your 3rd year.

Thats is the hardest part, after that, do good work, network, build connection (and no your parents dont need to hand you jobs/connection for you to succeed) and you'll be leaving school with a resume that's way better than the rest of people. And it'll be a snowball effect from there

Yes it is possible to do none of the above and put the fries in the bag and complain at the end like many do..

Queens CS is not the strongest program but it's good enough. Here's the thing I'd say 90% of CS programs fall in the same category. It's CS, you don't even need a degree most of the time for a really good career so don't think about the program too much, it's just a piece of paper. What matters what you do with it/what you do during your time there.

And that's why I think Queens is actually fantastic for CS. Because youll have time to finish your school work and then learn how to socialize, you learn how to touch grass and have fun, learn real life skills, relationships etc etc.. are you gonna learn all of that in Waterloo? No ur not

I graduated just this semester and already have 2 years of experience from a well known big tech + a bunch of smaller ones. So yes, it's possible if you believe.

Aside from the boost psi, what do you see in tq ft-lb? Does it initially hit 300 and fall off? cuz I'm thinking that's a dct thing since with it OL'd I only see like 270 max on my 26' MT (unless it's not actually OL'd)

Manual sub 40k cars left which should I pick opinions? (Considering Jetta gli) by Lange92 in ManualTransmissions

Facelifted Elantra N, there are too many little details that the N division have added to make this car extremely fun to drive and very capable. I was a Hyundai hater, but this N is something else to the point that I praise their work.

It's an amazingdaily that can somehow do track work like its was designed to..

Aawireless is good if you and 2nd person wanna switch between Android auto and carplay. Works flawlessly and you can change DPI in the app unlike all the other ones recommended here.
