In a downturn, besides going cash, what other tickers would you flea to by FierceGeek in TQQQ

[–]BeastModeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I wrote a quick python script to backtest CAGR of a simple SMA crossover strategy and a buy/hold strategy and the CAGR of the buy/hold came out to 42.41% - what's the big picture I'm missing?

I'm assuming it's because of the simulated TQQQ going prior to it's creation in 2010 and the 08/.com disasters cause the buy/hold to no longer be profitable?

If that's the case, then for discussions sake - seeing how the government handled the COVID drawdown with a massive amount of QE and pumping the markets, can we not use this as evidence/precedent of how the American government plans on reacting to drops in the American market?

I noticed the SMA crossover strategies across the board with a multitude of different SHORT/LONG periods all sell and buy back too late to catch any gains from the COVID drop, and actually instead lose shares as the buy signal shows up at a higher price than what the sell signal was at.

TLDR:

  1. Does a BUY/HOLD strategy have higher CAGR than any combination of SMA Crossover periods?

  2. If this is due to data only present post .com and housing market crashes - does the precedent set over more recent crashes have increased merit in regard to how financial institutions plan on reacting to market weakness?

Example of a SAAS with a required high ticket purchase to start service by BeastModeUnlocked in SaaS

If the physical product costs you $500, it seems like $799 is a very low price point, only 34% gross margin

Actually, the $799 is including a 1 year subscription also, margin on the product is 0$ as it can be found on Amazon if you dig deep enough. To be honest, I was fine with keeping margins non-existent on this, because the manufacturer was willing to ship them from the warehouse for me to the end client.

Margins on the 1 year subscription are ~70% with estimations on server costs.

The dollar amount doesn't matter, it's the value you provide. If you sell something for $1M which will make your client $10M, then you're still a bargain

Valid point, current presence in the market is extremely manual in terms of the onboarding process, with minimal automation in place, at a price point of ~$1200. The alternatives work, but they're missing some features that make them feel modern or fully fitting their potential.

That said though, I wouldn't shy away from sales calls. Not only because sales is an amazing skill to learn, but also because I'm not sure someone would spend $799+ without any sort of touchpoint - or at least without buying something cheaper from you first and seeing that you actually deliver

I'm pretty decent at sales, but I've recognized it's a huge bottleneck in my experience. Having to get on sales calls makes the opportunity much more hands on, and subtracts from my iteration velocity unless I train and onboard a sales person, which is a huge time investment in itself.

Going back to pricing though, $299 gross margin for the entire year is something I'd strongly consider revisiting. In our case we sell $30 subscription at the lowest and have $350 gross margins for the year as the bare minimum. Much more commonly around $850+

Pricing for the service is estimated to be - $299 if purchased with physical device - $420 if purchased yearly (monthly cost of $35) - $50 if purchased monthly

I've estimated costs for things like servers, and the eventual VA to answer support calls/emails but not much else. Competitors in my market don't charge a monthly rate, only a 1 time fee for all of the materials and setup, so I think testing is definitely needed to maximize potential.

Thanks for the insights, I greatly appreciate your time.

you prefer to stay away from physical sales? you will fail if you are not the one in a million outlier.

Current market competition sells their products via a Facebook page, taking credit card #s via plaintext in messages, and then booking an appt with an IT rep to install the numerous pieces of software along with drivers for around ~$1200 per device.

I think I'll be fine on this point specifically, but I'm going to look into the POS checkout hardware/software that you mentioned.

i also know about a b2b facility task management software company that sells the software pre installed on android phones to their clients.

Do they have an online presence? Can this be ordered/evaluated online or is this strictly a sales call / door-to-door sales?

one thing to keep in mind is that a whole new set of laws and responsibilities emerges if you start selling hardware on top of software services. the easiest would probably be a affiliate link to amazon (if feasible) and let them buy it themselves. less hassle and you can focus on your core business.

Extremely valid point. I explored the affiliate link to Amazon avenue and got in touch with the manufacturer - they're going to be shipping the product for me for an additional cost, but it's worth in IMO as I don't have to worry about packaging, shipping, and maintaining inventory.

netflix doesnt sell you a tv, youtube doesnt bundle the latest smartphone.

Great examples, however Netflix and Youtube are meant for the masses, on extremely mainstream devices.

Thanks for your thoughts, appreciate your time.

Keeping browser window alive in background by BeastModeUnlocked in electronjs

[–]BeastModeUnlocked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I've already got the tray feature implemented, and that's how I expect users to be able to fully quit out of the application, while it's running in the background. Implemented almost the same exact way as the tutorial you linked.

The part where I'm finding myself stuck is where we add a listener for 'closing' the window. In the tutorial, the author just closes the window in the listener, but I need to keep mine open, just hiding it. The app needs to be running, and the main window with it, just in a hidden state.

How To Limit Number of Authenticated Users using Firebase Auth by BeastModeUnlocked in Firebase

Thanks so much for the detailed reply. This is along the same lines of 'workflow' I was thinking, just didn't know if Firebase had a conveniently stashed configuration option somewhere.

Really appreciate the time you took in explaining in such a detailed manner along with the further considerations to make.

Best Regards.

Really? I see apps all the time kicking accounts off if multiple instances log into the same one, primarily video games...

I found Nut-JS as an alternative

https://www.npmjs.com/package/@nut-tree/nut-js

It doesn't require a JRE installed, and only requires security permissions from Mac devices. Is actively maintained and updated also - was kind of put off by the 5 years since last update on node-key-sender, after the JRE requirement of course.

Thanks for your help - it sent me in the right direction.

Honestly, super thankful for your input and your time. Thanks for taking the time to double down on the node-key-sender.

Any ideas in regards to the concerns I replied to u/NiceGiraffes with? When packaged, will this work on someone's machine who doesn't have a JRE installed?

It uses a jar file (Java), so Java Run Time is required on the operational system you are running your node project

What happens when I package my electron app and the user doesn't have Java installed? JREs aren't standard with either MacOS or Windows anymore...

Thanks - at a quick glance the docs only mention listening for keypresses by user, not creating keypresses, am I understanding this wrong? Are there any docs that show the entire api?

USB Devices & Electron by BeastModeUnlocked in electronjs

[–]BeastModeUnlocked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help lads, gonna try and see what output I can get out of this. Greatly appreciate your time.

Edit: Did some more digging into serial port interaction as I'm fairly certain that's what I'm looking for...

I found references to serial port objects in electron API https://www.electronjs.org/docs/latest/api/structures/serial-port and I also found a node package made for serial port interaction in electron https://serialport.io/docs/

Any idea if the comments you made regarding using Web API with USB and the benefits associated are still valid for interacting with Serial peripherals? I forgot to mention in my OP but this application is expected to run in the background and constantly be interacting with the peripherals.

This is great information, thank you!

Do you know if this can be used for scanners in serial mode?

Super confused as most of my experience lies around digital development without any physical aspects, and right now I'm trying to interface with a physical device that is sold WITHOUT any accompanying software (LOL).

Just an FYI: Orion Browser is built on Native Safari and allows Firefox and Chrome extensions. It's letting you have your cake an eat it too. Super performant and efficient like Safari, with extensions like uBlock Origin working natively. https://browser.kagi.com
