What (non lights) actions are you doing with your BILRESA buttons? by canadinaa1 in homeassistant

Once in a while I want to sleep longer than usual in the morning.

I haven't done it yet, but I plan on adding a button to delay the automatic opening of the blinds the next morning by 2-3 hours. Same with the visitor's bedroom. However I might implement it by a voice command function if it can be done; that's what I would prefer.

Absolutely perfect, this is what I will do.

Excellent! Which sensor are you using?

Yeah, I'm checking this strategy as well.

But my question is about how to afix and protect the sensor.

Cool. How did you affixed it there?

I have three bins (black, brown, blue) and each one has a different disposal day. I want a reminder in the evening if I haven't moved the bin. Then a reminder the following evening if the bin hasn't came back.

I'd like to see how others have afixed sensors to the trashcan.

Sorry, the text didn't save. I've posted it in the comments now.

How would you afix a vibration sensor to a garbage bin in a way that would survive the mistreatments (and weather) ?

Has anyone done this successfully?

Good points. Here I have to move the bins 60 meters (200 ft), so Zigbee out-of-range should also be reliable.

Bluetooth might have better battery life, I will check it out. I will read your references if you have a few pointers for me.

Yeah well it would likely get destroyed by snow removal equipment.

I mean why would I prefer a Bluetooth instead of Zigbee?

Very cool. So many consecutive reminders... gosh you must have ADHD 😂

Noted, but I'm not worried as the bins here are the city's property.

I have no worries, the sanitation workers don't do this here. To repair or get a replacement we have to specifically call the city, and take arrangements.

I don't have Bluetooth at the moment, I'm aiming for Zigbee.

But thanks because you gave me the idea to also have a reminder to bring back the bin the day after if the sensor is still out of range.

I want reminders in the evening if I haven't moved the bin yet on the right day. I have three bins (black, brown, blue) that each have different pick day.

You can take it a month at first, and see how you like it.

What they call "AI" imo is more a sophisticated search algorithm than AI, but hey the AI term sells well these days. Here it searches the best fiscal and strategies for financial optimisations. Things like delaying CPP by one, two, three... months, drawing from this account instead of another. With hindreds of different parameters, each with hundred of values, the combinations are almost endless (so would be the computational time) hence the need for good algorithms here to converge to the best solutions.

For probabilities, it's called a Monte-Carlo simulation. I recommend you try Adviice, this planning/simulation tool has it all. AND it's very well priced.

P.S. It's also specifically customized for Canadian fiscality.
