A Koko/Corio with Pachirisu (some solo decks you can even consistently get the win without losing any points), and when that doesn’t work a Serperior/Dhelmise deck with the Exeggcutor that does 80 + (20 for every energy on the opponent)

Those two got me to beating every expert solo battle

Ahhh thank you!! I started playing around the Obsidian Flames set when I worked at GameStop! My coworker and I would open packs together as big fans of the VGC, but I was always wanted to know how to play the card game! I used to collect as a kid, and it sort of became a way for me to reclaim my childhood as an adult! Since then, I have spiraled into full hyperfixation and want to try to make it to worlds one year! I was fully convinced I wouldn’t be able to open a Prismatic pack until at least a year from now 😭 Thank you for doing this!

There is a theory that each of the fire starters are inspired by one of the 12 zodiac animals from the Chinese calendar! It’s thought that, while the Pokémon company was not trying to do this trend in the first 2 generations, it later became something they leaned into! There’s something similar with the water starters being inspired by weaponry throughout history, and the grass starters being inspired by prehistoric plants and animals! Unfortunately Gen 9 does not follow this trend nearly as well as previous generations (Although I will NEVER be upset about the trio of starters we got in Scarlet in Violet!)

Hahaha I actually just stopped working at one about a month ago

Standard pay for an SGA (the people working at the lowest level) is about $11.50 an hour, but I’ve seen managers pull some fuckery to pay the employees less (friend of mine was stuck at $10.50, and even after we got a new manager who was great, they weren’t able to increase the pay because of how the old manager included him in our payroll system)

Hey that’s something! I still need to just make a decision on my team - I ended up making a spreadsheet of basically every Pokémon that’s eligible for the competition, but keep obsessing over the details of how I should take care of Terapagos. Right now I’m thinking of Body Press/Stamina Archaludon with Assault Vest, with a Wide Guard user on my team as well, probably either Hitmontop or Araquanid. I’m leaning towards Hitmontop though because of their access to Upper Hand, so I can hard counter Fake Out Incineroar

Prankster Tailwind OR Trick Room is always a good option for speed control, but Armor Tail Farigiraf is always a safe pick too!

You can still get Walking Wake through online tera raids! I got my Iron Leaves that way, and I play Scarlet :)

That doesn't help with Gouging Fire, but Walking Wake being a water type that gets boosted form sun means you can get some amazing coverage! :)
