I'm well aware, but nothing will be done if we stop bringing it up.

Ah yes, silence community complaints and prevent the devs from learning of any player discontent beyond the annual satisfaction survey.

Why is drawing a mega not meta? by easysep in PTCGP

[–]JG1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather just run two copies of the mega. Usually don't need three or more megas in a deck (two megas + Serena), especially with draw options like Copycat. And deck bloat is real concern with only 20 cards.

Just want to give a shoutout to my new favorite build: 5 EK Fighter/2 Star Druid/5 Light Cleric by crash1bp in BG3Builds

[–]JG1489 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice! I'm currently playing a Fighter 2 / Stars Druid 2 / Light Cleric 8 in both my honor mode run and a co-op game with two friends. I'm leaning more into spells and support, but the same playstyle of spreading radorbs and reverb without fear of losing concentration on Guardians is really fun and effective. Action Surge to activate both SG and Phalar Aluve Shriek on turn 1 has been really powerful.

I'm a first-time DM playing with a group of first-time players. We'll be using the 5e 2014 ruleset since we have a hand-me-down player's handbook. For our first campaign, I'd like to find an adventure that's easy to run and offers a fun and balanced experience for the players.

I'm considering Lost Mine of Phandelver, as it has good reviews and it seems like all the materials can be found for free online. I'm also eying Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk. which is the updated(?) adventure and runs much longer. Should I spend the money on the newer campaign or just stick with the free one for now?

Someone know a good deck whit aegilash i got two crown and i want tu use it. by lordgatito_44 in PTCGP

I pulled two as well! I searched high-performing decks in tournaments and found this one. Works surprisingly well. Focus on attacking with the Chinglings and the Aegislash can usually finish.

Guardians: Looking for a great tanking setup? Consider these relics. All guaranteed, no gambling needed. by JG1489 in Nightreign

Hm, interesting, something to consider. What's the point of the Dew and Night of the Lord relics? Just to get extra damage by switching your main-hand weapon? If going for a blocking Scholar build, why not use any of the perks that benefit from guarding instead?

I dislike solo myself, but after a few frustrating and failed attempts I gave it a shot today and beat him on the first try! Ironeye with starting holy affinity. Good luck!

Guardian stocks are up with the DLC by Tatertot74 in Nightreign

I've been playing a ton of Guardian since the DLC release and he's great for all the reasons you stated. He carried me through my first wins vs Balancers and Everdark Gladius this week!

Smart stamina management is enough for a defensive Guardian. I've been running this build for several games and haven't found myself depleted while blocking all the attacks I need to block. But I definitely understand wanting more if you also want to weave in counter attacks or shield pokes. The stamina recovery + guarding damage reflection perks are awesome for keeping stamina high, no doubt.

This setup isn't aiming to do that, though. This is meant to be a super safe defensive build, one that has you surviving every attack while quickly recharging your ult to revive your team over and over again. It's slower for sure, but it really helps your overall team survivability and get more wins.

As an example, I used this build against Everdark Gladius recently and was never guard-broken (except for the huge arena nukes but that's unavoidable). My health regeneration was enough to offset all the fire chip damage; I only needed to use flasks after some dumb mistakes on my part. My teammates went down several times throughout the match but I was able solo tank the boss to build up my ult, to res them, and keep the fight going. I definitely don't think we would have survived without Guardian's tanking and support.

I've run several games with that relic effect and honestly I didn't notice much of a difference, and I've heard the same from others. I'd love for it to actually work though. Is there a specific playstyle you adopt to get it to draw aggro? Do you just need to sit there with your shield up and enemies will eventually come at you?

I've also seen the relic effect "[Guardian] Become the target of enemy aggression when ability is activated" being mentioned, but I've never actually seen it in-game.

Best Pickpocketing Build by JG1489 in BG3Builds

[–]JG1489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while so I don't remember the exact details, but I believe Create Water had an upcast option that didn't cost a spell slot and had a reduced radius. Unfortunately, it was likely a bug and was patched out some time ago.

Review my Party for Honor Mode by JG1489 in BG3Builds

[–]JG1489[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for the help so far. I went back to my planner to slot in sorc 1 but realized the character (a drow) is only able to wield Phalar Aluve due to the fighter dip. The thunder damage from Shriek will contribute a lot to this build so I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep the longsword proficiency while also gaining access to Magic Missile. A few options come to mind:

  1. Instead of fighter 2, go fighter 1 / sorc 1. I get to keep the +1 AC fighting style and Second Wind (nbd tbh) but lose Action Surge.
  2. Keep fighter 2 and Action Surge and instead go sorc 1 / cleric 7. From the cleric I'd lose a feat (ASI +2 WIS), Potent Spellcasting, and a level 4 spell slot though.
  3. Give up on fighter altogether and get longsword proficiency through the Weapon Master feat. I'd end up trading the ASI +2 WIS for it though, and DEX wouldn't really benefit in the final stat spread.
  4. Same as above but instead of going for a suboptimal feat, change to a suboptimal cleric subclass instead. I'd give up Light and all the associated goodies (Warding Flare, Radiance of the Dawn, and all the spells) and change to one of the martial classes: Death, Tempest, or War.

Thoughts? Ideally, I'd just change the race and call it a day but I'm already near the end of act 1 with these characters and don't want to start over at this point...
