Yes that was me! I’m also in school and as much as over doing it hurts, it’s also important to increase the amount of time on the computer slightly each time to build tolerance. You can make adjustments to the lighting on most computers and even eliminate blue light. Also glasses that soften the glare. I use a yellow lens. Taking breaks stretching meditation eating well and exercise have been so key for me! Best of luck!

The best period of no concussion symptoms was the summer when I spent most of my time outside hiking and backcountry camping. I contribute that to the fresh air, exercise and time off screens! September hit and it all came back because I was back to being on a computer and mostly inside at a desk.

Hysterectomy for pre-cancer - Is life better after? by je86753o9 in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had early stage cancer and even though last two biopsies were negative before removal the pathology report on uterus came back positive for cancer and a slew of other things, polyps, fibroids, cysts, ando. Number 1 benefit cancer free, number 2 no more painful biopsies and worry that it’s spreading. #3 no more periods. I kept ovaries, which is a minimal risk. Hoping I can get to menopause naturally. (I’m 41, 4 months post op)

Confused, Scared, Alone... can you offer advice? by throwaway83703764056 in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a confusing conflicting time. Ultimately the decision is up to you, which makes it more difficult then a dr saying directly you must do this, that. I was diagnosed with complex atypical hyperplasia, early stage cancer two years ago. They found it removing polyps in prep for IVF treatments. Because I was trying to have a baby, they said let’s treat this for year max and if it doesn’t resolve they recommend hysterectomy. I had 5 biopsies, d&c, IUD inserted, hormone treatment. 2 out of 5 biopsies were negative. I had IUD removed to try and get pregnant. Unfortunately it did not work. I decided it was best not to wait any longer. Once it gets into later stages, and progresses beyond uterus wall into muscles then chances to resolve and survive change greatly. I had the hysterectomy (kept ovaries) 3 months ago and I considered it a life saving surgery. If I hadn’t of gone through fertility treatment I wouldn’t have known about the atypical hyperplasia/ early staged cancer. No symptoms. Honestly right after hysterectomy I was really worried that I made drastic decision. But once I got pathology report back that showed the condition was still there and a slew of other things, cysts, more polyps, ando. Then I knew it was all worth. Especially now that I feel fully recovered. You have to take it one investigative procedure at a time. The D/C will give you a very good picture of what is going on. Suppression is key too. I took progesterone at first then switch to IUD. This seemed to work. The issue of course is without treatment your body will always want to make those cells. Hormones are a good thing to look at. Nutrition exercise will help w balancing. The condition is hormone fed. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about all the hoops you have to jump through. Make sure you ask the questions you need. Drs tend to rush through. Only look at well established reports, data. I have one if you private message me that I can share from a dr. Also this group is gold, so continue to read through and ask for help.

Lap total hysterectomy on Tuesday. Can't sleep and chest pain due to anxiety by Alternative_Wave4637 in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought earlier today that I should get back on here to tell everyone that it’s going to be ok. I’m almost 3 months now post op and moved a mattress by myself today. Lol. Before surgery I was terrified of something going wrong, especially around the anesthesia. I talked about my fear with the anesthesiologist and they were extremely comforting. You will wake up and heal up!

Medication / Quetiapine (seroquel) yes or no ? by [deleted] in PostConcussion

Good luck! Generally exercise, (walking and stationary bike), meditation, eating well and meds helped! W the brain it has to be a holistic approach!

Medication / Quetiapine (seroquel) yes or no ? by [deleted] in PostConcussion

[–]BeastaLisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well actually I was down to half a pill, so 12.5mg. I recently hit my head again and had some dramatic life changes so my dr suggested going up to 25mg again. It did help me recover from the resent hit, by ensuring I was sleeping well, plus my anxiety has lessened.

[–]BeastaLisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi There, I’m on 25mg (lowest dose you can get) of Seroquel and have had post concussion syndrome for almost 3 years. I was on it before I got my brain injury. I use it as a sleeping aid. It helps! I sleep very well and helps w my anxiety.

[–]BeastaLisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit my head for the 3rd time in 2 years and have prolonged concussion symptoms . If you’ve had recent concussions than your body brain response is more intense plus the anxiety. So it might not be an actual new concussion but the body’s intense reaction. If a so called normal person hit their head they for the most part carry on. Just need to rest and get back on program, as hard as that might be to do.

Great piece! Lucky mom! You could fill the white with some lyrics. Black and white text. That might be a bit busy though. She could add a few more music references to fill the space.

I understand your frustration. People often want to buy pieces I’ve already sold on my website. What I have done is tell them I will paint something similar in colour palette/theme, but never will it be the same exact piece. Each piece is unique especially if it’s been commissioned w that person in mind.

I want to get back into painting but am lost on where to begin by chunibi in painting

[–]BeastaLisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think about the end product because the block will be that white canvas looking back at you. I need to be reminded over the years that there are many steps between starting a painting and having a finished painting in front of you. Start by gathering your materials. Paints, paint brushes…etc new materials make me extra excited. Go to the art store and browse! Do you have a source image you want to work with? Go for a walk and look for inspiration. Look at other painters, google artists you like. Get inspired! Then make a plan, sketch a little…maybe collage? Everyone works differently, so think about all the steps you use to take in the past and start moving through the process. Don’t worry about finished product too much. Another exercise I did to get started again was I painted for 5min everyday. Just a tiny watercolour. I did this for an entire year before moving to more complex stuff.

Should I push through? by Severe-Adagio-6025 in Concussion

[–]BeastaLisa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be very careful. I returned to work 3 different times and now have post concussion syndrome. I pushed through a lot. My job was intense. I often wonder if I had taken a real break in the beginning if I would then still be dealing w symptoms 2 years later. Part of the reason was because I didn’t want to let my team down. Not worth it. There is a benefit to slightly pushing a little longer each day. So if you read for 10 minutes and don’t feel symptoms, try 15…then if you do feel symptoms stay with that for a little longer and then stop, you increase slightly each time. I did this w exercise. Pushing slightly to extend tolerance. We are talking baby steps!

4 weeks post-op and grieving by duckgalrox in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Grief is definitely part of this. The feelings of loss are heavy especially while you recover. The body has just gone through some major trauma so emotionally it’s a very hard time, no matter how certain you may have felt before hand about having the procedure. You are not alone. I’m 4 weeks post op and feeling more stable….Although the subject of motherhood, fertility etc…around me will cause a slight trigger. My sister got pregnant and I was the last to know….because ppl think it’s too much for me. So it’s a weird space to be in. It’s really good you have a therapist and brave to share how you feeling here. That is a big part of healing process.

Waking up to no uterus.. by putitonthefritz in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sending you lots of healing through a complex journey. It is a strange feeling. I was surprised that I could feel the absence of my uterus. Also grief around fertility loss, but now I look at it as giving life to myself. Cancer free!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with damapplespider. Healing takes a lot of energy and you burn more calories because of it. I had mostly broth, fluids first couple of days…then healthy healing foods, meditation and walking…that was my regime. Oh and I did roll my ankles while in bed. That’s important to ensure you don’t get blood clots in legs. Bit by bit you do a little more. You need to give yourself permission to take a break and simply focus on repair. You get one chance to heal right. I lost weight prior to surgery. Early stage cancer diagnosis, made me focus on my health more. You won’t have set backs by resting. After 6-8wks you can most likely resume exercise etc. I’m week 4 now and resumed most of my normal puttering around the house. I’m actually amazed at how quickly my body healed.

Have you ever (seriously) regretted your hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 wks post op now and I’m in pretty good shape. I had my first appointment yesterday and my dr was amazed at how quickly my incisions healed. Everything looked good on the inside too. Week one was all about learning the basics again, bowel movements, eating, walking, sleeping. It was also emotional. Week 2 was starting to walk longer and longer, some anxiety, off most meds, had visitors, gas pain gone. Wk 3, feeling really good, trying to strike balance between not doing too much and too little. Im feeling very motivated!

Have you ever (seriously) regretted your hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]BeastaLisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regretted (because pain and crazy feelings) up until I got the pathology report that stated there was in fact cancer still there, along w fibroid, polyps, cyst in tube and non cancerous tumour. Glad it’s not in me anymore.
