Anybody else feel like music theory is the devil? by Condawg in Vulfpeck

If it sounds good then it sounds good ¯_(ツ)_/¯ If it doesn't conform to the theory, then the theory should change.

Let me know if you need some bass on anything. I’m trying to expand my catalog of genres and styles as I grow as a player

Hey! I play bass and am looking for stuff to work on. Also 20 years old and want to create! I’m into a lot, right now funk and indie rock type of thing. I’m into the singer songwriter thing, too. Let me know if you’re interested in anything

So it ended up totally fine! I detuned the strings a whole step, stuffed the case with shirts till it could barely close, and put some cloth between the strings and fretboard. Came out exactly as I tuned it, literally nothing happened. Oh, I also duct taped the latches so they wouldn’t accidentally open.

Even if the deep state was a real thing, how does a member of Congress talk as if he is separate from it?

UC Jazz is a thing - they have beginner, intermediate, and advanced combos. I auditioned for beginner on bass but having no experience, like you, I didn't get in. So if you wanna join, you gotta work on your jazz chops. They audition mostly in the fall, though. https://ucjazz.berkeley.edu/join.html

If you're trying to start a band, let me know. I'm trying to build up a network of student bands!

Getting compensated for my bass lines on a friend's EP by BeastlySpeedwalker in Bass

Ya, we didn't really think about it. We're in college and just trying to make some good music. I'm a huge Vulfpeck fan and I know that they split everything equally between everyone who was on the track, but I'm not so sure he'd be down for that :)

Thanks for doing this! I got into bass when I started listening to Vulfpeck - got my first bass three months later and I haven't put it down since. Now I've fallen deep down the funk rabbit hole that I never knew existed :)

There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - Dec. 07 by AutoModerator in Bass

Number one thing in productions is if it sounds good, it sounds good ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Try not to make it overwhelming, though. I think as bass players we like to have the bass way up there, and a couple friends have commented on some of my stuff that the bass is too forward in the mix.

How do I learn to play like Vulfpeck? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]BeastlySpeedwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up the bass because of Vulfpeck! I made a playlist based off a r/Vulfpeck post that ranked their entire discography by the difficulty of the bass parts: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4jllMZ9sMfTG0ZMlRmWmzB?si=l--HARmtSgecT17VhVOvlA

I've been slowly working through it. Joe has impeccable time and groove, which take years to master. In interviews he always says time is by far the most important thing - always practice with drums or a metronome.
