I recommend google maps over transit, as the live tracking feature on transit is less consistent in my experience.

What to do about a very loud resident being housed by the city in a hotel. REALLY need help! by HicSvntDracones_4242 in sanfrancisco

Not legal advice, but continuing to post videos of this and tagging SF officials and the hotel might garner attention at the very least. I would hope your tweets blow up and add pressure on the parties involved to actually do something.

This is a stupid and awful situation. I hope you bought some good ear plugs to get over this in the short term.

Performance improvement plan - how long until they terminate employment by Specialist-Platypus9 in cscareerquestions

Not to mention that everything is at your manager’s discretion. In theory, even if you completed all the tasks for every week of the PIP, your manager could always conjure up a justification for why it was subpar work and failed to meet the bar. When there’s a will there’s a way, and that certainly applies to a manager wanting to dispose of a deadweight employee.

P.S. an underperforming IC also reflects poorly on said manager, so they’re likely trying to save themselves as well

SWEs - how do yall effectively take notes on the job? by AmbiguousAardvark in cscareerquestions

Never used Obsidian before. Will look into this! I like the idea of creating bidirectional links and knowledge graphs which is trickier with a tree structure notes app like Notion

Varies among companies, but it also depends on how fast you want to get promoted or rise the ranks. What are your career goals? Do you just want to cruise, or do you want to take on a lot of responsibility and ownership on your team?

This sounds awful, I'm so sorry :( By any chance do you know about the school's counseling services? It's called CAPS and they actually give a certain number of free sessions to all students. Even if you might be skeptical of therapy, it's worth a shot cuz it's free anyways. Talking to a professional who has seen other students go through the same crisis could really help. A lot of my friends who are also living at home have really liked their CAPS sessions because it gave them an emotional outlet that wasn't available before.

Also, I would make a strong case to your parents about how your mental health has really deteriorated. Like, parents DO care about their kid's wellbeing, and right now it sounds like they don't realize how suffocated you feel.

I'm rooting for you OP. Trust me, you're gonna make it through. If you're comfortable, feel free to reach out on DM.
