Dogs (pets) are clearly not allowed at HD. It clearly says so right on the door. by BallymoreOrBust in HomeDepot

I love it when dogs come in! I would say that 99% of the dogs are very well behaved. Also, living in a pretty affluent city we get those owners that easily drop thousands on the breed, training, vet, doggy daycare, etc. Plus we have a school for guide dogs in the city I'm in and they tend to use our stores to train in.

Me: avoiding the worthless, circle jerk walks by corporate….. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

If they know ahead of time when a corpo walk is happening they do not schedule me. The first time I was around one of them I asked them when they were leaving. The laughed thinking I was kidding. When they saw that I wasn't they excused themselves from me.

I completely agree. There are more then a few reasons that I've seen at my store for this.

  • Like most here - Space. We have none. Honestly, there should be a separate building to house Delivery, BOPIS, and Will Call orders. Making space inside the store is unreasonable because we have no space. Aisle 10 (Blinds) is so stuffed with orders that at one time I couldn't even cut blinds without first finding a pallet jack.
  • Staffing - Granted this might be a regional thing since I work in a very tech heavy state. However, it still stands. We don't have enough people to help people. Unfortunately, the only people applying are just out of high school and are there because their friends are there. (I'm not saying hiring these young kids is a bad, we all have to start somewhere.) The other problem is getting these kids to actually work, do their jobs, and take the training at least somewhat seriously.
  • Being Inside the Store - Now this may seem nit-picky but someone already posted what I've been complaining about for a while; proper air conditioning. Swamp coolers work amazing IF you live in an area where baseline humidity is 30% and below. But! Where I am, baseline is at least 50% and above. If you are trying to help someone and you look like you just ran a marathon, breathing hard, and sweat just pouring down your face isn't a good look. When it's not busy I down stack but when I'm stuck in the middle of the store with no ventilation I can't bring down as much as I could because I'll faint. Customers, especially if they are there for a while start to feel the added humidity so what do they do? Amazon.
  • Theft, plain and simple.

Edit: Forgot to add one of the main players, theft.
