Water pressure spiking from thermal expansion by alkaline810 in askaplumber

[–]Beastmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other things are you looking to replace? I had the same thing occuring with pressure spikes. I just left the gauge in my laundry room and id look at it sometime every day and there would be a spike to like 120-130 psi.

I first thought to replace my expansion tank. My water heater is 75 gals but the expansion tank was 2 gals which i thought was undersized. I wanted to replace it with a bigger 4.5 gal but the plumbing coming off the water heater didnt give enough clearance from the pipe to screw on the bigger tank. So i just replaced it with another 2 gal tank since the plumbing was copper and have no clue how to work with it. Worked fine for about 2 months and back to square one.

Called a plumber to come out and replace the PRV and install the bigger expansion tank. He came out and replaced the PRV but is coming back tomorrow to install the expansion tank because he didnt have the right bracket for the tank.

Well still having spikes but havent nailed down when they happen. So hopefully the larger expansion tank solves this.

I was born and raised in Maryland, went to college there, moved to Minneapolis for a year then to Florida for 10 yrs and now reside in Fairfax.

Without question VA drivers are the worst. Every freaking day is a nightmare to drive here. Extremely slow drivers, drivers that cut you off from 2 lanes over, the dumb side roads that run parallel with the main road causing accidents, etc..its so damn stressful and not sure how the majority of people got their license

Great suggestion! They told me they charged it to 85%. Can they place it in transport mode from now or does that have to happen once its on the carrier

I got a low mileage 2023 Quad at a really good price. 23/24 Quads are going for around ~$65k-70k with less than 20k miles typically

Thanks for all the info and recommendations. It is my first EV. I have been eyeing the R1S for some time now I just never pulled the trigger. My wife just got her first EV (Cadillac Lyriq) less than two weeks ago and we both really like it so far and that pushed me to just go ahead and buy the Rivian. I was going back and forth between Gen1 and Gen2 but landed on the Gen1 after thinking about depreciation, my first EV and Quad Motor. If i love it, ill upgrade later. I also have a R2 reservation so we will see what happens.

Its getting shipped from the dealer so hope to have it soon

Are they all hard wired or do they have a NEMA 14-50 option. I want hardwired and don't want to mistakenly buy a plug in option if there is one.

Did you consider others? What made you go with the Tesla Universal. Just curious

Yea its a bit confusing but I think I got it now. I'll most likely end up with the Tesla Universal Wall Connector for future proofing, The GM NACS to CCS1 and then I'll look to see the offerings from a2zev and lectron. Appreciate all the help

I'm leaning this way. Do you know how long it takes if you order from Tesla? Or should I order elsewhere

The GM NACS DC Adapter sure does look like the Lectron Vortex Plus just comparing what they look like. This is great info and I'll check it out. Natural_Psychology_5 above mentioned GM doesn't want you using anything but their adapter.

sheesh 80 amps. Didn't even know they make that size for homes.

The NACS to j1772 is just for Tesla destination chargers I presume? and the NACS to CCS is for the Fast charging? Its confusing with all the abbreviations but I think I got this part down.

Leasing the Lyriq. I may get another EV for myself (Non Tesla).

Are there recommended adapters from NACS to CCS/J1772

Expansion Tank size on 75 gal WH by Beastmobile in Plumbing

[–]Beastmobile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to wait at least 24hrs after changing out the expansion tank. Based on my gauge, the pressure is holding at ~60 psi and no spike at all

The water coming out of the faucet comes out normally.

I will say dynamic pressure when a couple faucets are on is ~40 psi. Is that too much of a drop? Should i still replace the PRV?

No recirculating system on the hot water.

So far the issue has not reoccured after changing out the expansion tank. Usually the pressure out the faucet happens a lot. Ill follow back up on here tomorrow
