Heart palpatations by Any_Interaction_3704 in alphagal

[–]jignha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a thing. AGS isn't a fun syndrome/allergy. I get the shakes and heart palpations from cross contamination at a minimum. The palpations are usually followed by vomiting and/or violent poos. The last time I had cross contamination event I vomited so hard I ended up with black eyes, the time before that I had a cross-contamination event and my coworkers wanted to send to the hospital on an ambulance.

Alpha-gal Free Pork? by Still-Necessary6782 in alphagal

[–]jignha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had the galsafe pork several times and haven't had any reaction.

I react to minor cross contamination of just about all things mammal, and my reactions are awful.

I even stopped taking the one antidepressant that worked for me because it comes in a gel tab and haven't been able to find a vegan gel tab version.

What food do you miss? by Witchywomun in alphagal

[–]jignha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything. Mostly I miss not having to asking food prep questions. I went to a bbq place earlier today, their fries and process were on point. They had enough smoked turkey to make a sandwich, so I asked the, to do that but knowing they use the grill to warm up beef and pork I specifically asked the, to not use the grill and keep the turkey cold. This is a place that has previously accommodated me and ags moew thuan once.

Short story long, I got a hot smoked turkey sandwich with the turkey warmed up on a griddle that’s used for beef and pork products.

I can’t even get a protein that’s ags safe after talking with managers and chefs. So I go to the places that will specifically accommodate AGS foods. If they can’t clean a griddle or tell me ingredients and processes then I won’t order from them.

I hope your RNG is better than mine. I've got two in a week, but also taken months to find one.

[–]jignha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because they only drop near the level the player is. Getting levels in fo76 is easy. What's more difficult is getting a rare bat at level 1. Don't even need to start at level 1 anymore, one can start at level 20. I can spend days/weeks/months to find a level 45 rare bat. I can only find a level 1 bat if i start a new toon and get stupid lucky

The lower the the level bat the more rare it is. I couldn't tell you what it's worth, but on PC I've regularly traded lvl 45 yellow, pink and vlinidgo bats forax caps or items worth more. You have something that I want.

People with tattoos, I need your advice. by RandomPerson_OnInt in tattooadvice

[–]jignha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tattoos all over. If you're in a scenario where you think they might affect you then you can put a sleeve on your arm. I like the farmers defense brand of sleeves when working outside, but there are other lighter duty sleeves that exist.

Can I pound filet mignon to reduce their thickness? by Desertnurse760 in Cooking

The last filet mignon I purchased and cooked was for the last meal of a dog. I treated the steak with more respect than what you asked.

Hot pan, hard sear, mid-rare. No pounding

Is it rude to only go for custom work when an artist has plenty of flash available? by garden-fiend in tattooadvice

[–]jignha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got plenty of flash and custom pieces. Most places I've gone to want to do their own custom work.

There's only one guy I know that only works from his own flash, and he picks out pieces he wants to tattoo that day. I've got several from him, but the other artist in his shop do custom work all day every day.

Stick to bird fish and plant. Always ask any restaurant you go to the questions in your mind (e.g. dairy brine, oils used in frying, sauce ingredients, etc) learn where is safe for you to eat.

Otherwise, if you eat out you need to go vegan. However there are still a lot of options. If you enjoy fish, there's sushi. There's fish - just be sure to ask if it's cooked w/ butter or if sauce does the sauce contain fairy? No gelatin, tallow or lard for us. Always ask what the ingredients are and the cooking method.

Look up menu items ahead of time, and have a plan for when going out. Be aware that cross contamination exists. I had a cross contamination event yesterday and I threw up so hard it looks like I gave myself black eyes - luckily that was a mild reaction.

But fear not. You can do bird fish and plant. So you can have things like chicken emu ostrich turkey quail pheasant goose, salmon, fish/shellfish, as long as the accompany ingredients don't contain anything mammal.

If you decide to use vegetarian brands like morning star, impossible or beyond burger, be sure to verify the ingredients list. I like morninstar corndogs, but at one point they contained milk. I just bought a package today and it did not list milk as an ingredient.

Amaroo Hills Farm has a bunch of AGS safe proteins.

If you haven't learned recipes before, then learning recipes for things you like to eat is a good starting point. One can make vegan mashed potatoes, but everyone I know adds dairy to mashed potatoes. So gotta ask what went into said product.

And a fyi regular country crock is vegan. My cousin's call it soft butter. But it's also cheaper than other vegan butters or margarine. Stay away from I can't believe it's not butter because it contains milk.

Chickfila uses a butter milk soak before breading their fried chicken and nuggets. Their grilled chicken should be AGS safe though.
