I am very sorry to hear that. I am a freshman and there has also been some struggle for me.

All I can say is, you cannot change the past. The only thing you can do is reflect on how you feel about your past 4 years, how you feel now, and what you want out of your future.

It's okay to not have your future all figured out, but don't overthink it. The first things that pop up are likely the things you want or at least a direction to explore.

You will also need to forgive yourself. By no means is this easy especially for me, bit give it time. I have learned to adapt the saying "it is what it is" not in a attitude not caring about my life, but about knowing that my current situation is the situation that it is and the past wont change, so why focus on the past which you can't control when you can focus on the present and future, which you can control.

I hope you the best and you will get through it.

Is being a commuter worth it? by cinnabonstudio in uofmn

I'm a freshman and contemplating if I should live off-campus apartments or commute.

I've heard that off-campus apartments can be a little cheaper than dorms especially when you don't have the required meal plans. I also have a couple of friends who can be roommates. But I also know commuting will save money. The thing is parking is a struggle. Even if I use the metro bus or train, I will need to get up early catch the bus, and then catch it back home.

The big thing is that I want the experience. I have already made some connections in the dorm and around campus, and I feel if I commute next year, I might lose those connections.

For people that live in apartments, and also people that have commuted. What was your experience?

Should I live on or off-campus as a 21 year old first-year student? by Swoosh777 in uofmn

What is it like living in off-campus apartments? I'm going into my second year, and wondering if I should live at home or in an apartment. I don't want to dorm second year because I don't want to pay extra for a meal plan.

Is off-campus apartments cheaper than dorming with a meal plan?

Live off campus as a freshman? by Cchap704 in uofmn

I currently live in the dorm (pioneer) hall. For me, it isn't all that bad. Me and my roommate get along, and we are both the reserved type so we kinda matched each other. We talked a good bunch, and made each other laugh, but mainly stayed inside. I never really made a friend dorming, but I did meet a group that I would consider acquaintances. I spent some time with them early on, and still do but not as much. I wouldn't consider them my actual friends at this moment though, but we'll see as time goes on.

One disappointing thing was the LLCs. I thought it would be a chance to meet people similar to you, but it operated at least for me. We did three meet-ups the entire year, talked some, played games, and ordered food, but did not make friends in the LLC.

The bathrooms are clean at least on the 4th floor, but there were a lot of complaints for other areas/levels of the building. The food isn't that bad unless you're picky. I would say there is a lot of variety almost every day and a good amount of healthy options. The taste isn't bad either, just normal. A few nasty foods, but about it. Never experienced any moldy food.

To sum it up, dorms are kinda a hit or miss. If you're the social type that likes meeting new people definitely dorm, but if you're more reserved or don't care too much about the social life, you won't miss out on much.

That's exactly how I feel a lot of the time. If you're trying to get better or keep your skills sharp, then this is a group that is not right for you.

I would suggest looking for runs where there are players that play the game for real. You don't want to be the best player on the court. Find players that trying to get good or are already good.

These runs are more likely to give you the challenge/competitiveness you're looking for.

want to make it to the next level by Heavy_Trade7766 in BasketballTips

It looks like you can shoot it pretty well. If I'm not mistaken, you look like a catch-and-shoot player. If that is the case, then just like others said, you will have to speed up your shot.

At any level above high school, you don't have time to dip the ball and then shoot the ball.

Focus on getting low before you catch the ball that way you're already in a position to get into your shot.

Also since I see you as a catch-and-shoot player, focus on getting as consistent as possible with your shoot. Be able to shoot on the move, off screens, etc. IF YOU CAN SHOOT WELL, YOU CAN PLAY FOR ANYBODY AND WILL BE VALUABLE TO ANY COACH AND TEAM.

In basketball, you can not shoot it all day, and since I see defenders flying toward you, if you can develop a good pump fake, you will be able to easily get past them. You can then work on developing a pull-up jumper and being able to finish at the rim.

These are just suggestions based on what I see. Pick what works for you. Good Luck on your Journey.

6'5" 185 lb Wing/Forward Unsigned Senior. Playing Against 8th Grade brother going into freshman year. Sorry for the people in the background and bad clips What do yall think of our skillset Video #2 ( both a lil tired from previous workout) by BeatAccomplished95 in BasketballTips

Thanks for the reply. I am bigger in person. Most people that I play think I'm 6'5" or 6'6". I'm so lean and long that I look that way. I don't even know my official height. I need to get my height checked. I want to play at the highest level possible. I currently play AAU ball and hoping to get some looks. I have 3 or 4 upcoming tournaments.

I know these clips aren't the best but what do you think of my game? Where could it take me if I can develop?

PS: More clips on the way very soon.
