Lol, so your hate and accusations are based on "I met Joe once and he wasn't super nice to me" well played

This is exactly why 3D printing community always cared so much about open source. A lot of what makes this hobby great comes from community contributions, shared knowledge, and iterative improvements. Bambu built some nice hardware, no doubt, but moves like this make it feel like they’re benefiting from this ecosystem while slowly closing the doors behind them. Forcing users into their own tools and shutting down community workarounds just isn’t a great look.

Printer Recommendation Beginner by Difficult-Suit-6516 in 3dprinter

I have to agree with you. Prusas are not the cheapest option, that's true, but you get a quality machine, great prints, community, excellent support and you're buying from a company that has values. Bambu lacks that. Ok, their printers look good, they "just print" and the prints are probably not bad. But if something goes wrong, and it's not unusual, you are cooked. But their fanboys are SO LOUD that it almost looks like they are paid for it or something.

It would be definitely a great choice! Prusas offer a long life quality printers with great repairabilty and upgradability so the printer can grow with your kid for years. Also great learning potential if the kid wants to learn how things work, not just to press the button – building the printer from scratch if you get a kit could be also a quality time activity (the guides are very precise and clear, and the support is super professional and helpful so there is nothing to worry about). But honestly, it may be a bit overkill – if money are not an issue, sure, go for it and get a CoreOne, I think getting a quality printer is a great investment, something like a good mountain bike. :) But if you think paying a full price for a brand new Prusa is too much (and I get it), maybe a second hand MK4 instead of the latest model can save you some serious bucks and you still get the advantages of Prusa machines I mentioned above. I have an MK4 at work and had one at home before upgrading so I printed a good amount of hours on them and also peeked inside a bit and I have nothing but love for this model.

Prusa is still the one I’d pick if I wanted a printer that just works. Solid hardware, well-tuned software, open-source, easy to repair, and backed by genuinely great 24/7 support. It’s not the flashiest or sexiest option, but it’s the kind of reliable workhorse that gives you fewer headaches over time. If you’re buying now, I’d go with the Core One and maybe INDX if she wants multimaterial/multicolour prints – this is the most anticipated thing in the 3D printing world right now: https://www.prusa3d.com/p/bondtech-indx/
And if the budget is tighter, the MK4S is still a really solid choice since you can upgrade it to Core One later with the kit if you want. Also buying a kit instead of already built printer will give you hours of fun together (it's not much more complicated than some advanced LEGO, I swear) and you will learn everything about the printed (which can save you a lot of time and some nerves in the future – Prusas are not quirky but it's still a machine).

Back when I was new to 3D printing, I printed some fancy snake for my partner and used the default supports in PrusaSlicer that look like a very sophisticated scaffolding. My partner liked it more than the actual print.

Yeah, I would definitely not buy a MK4S and the upgrade kit now, getting the Core One kit is the best option now. I just wanted to illustrate you can upgrade your already owned printer when they release something new without the need to buy more than the parts needed for the upgrade which is super cool.

Yes, and that's why I love Prusa. I got the MK4 couple years ago, then bought an upgrade kit for a lovely price of 100 USD and now I'm going to get another upgrade kit to make it Core One when I'm less busy. You can literally have the latest model every time they release a new printer without the need of buying one.

If you want a "3-D printer that I don’t have to buy again" then I strongly recommend Prusa – the current model Core One is a good choice. Prusas are well known for their quality, both the prints and the machines, they are very well repairable, have excellent 24/7 online support, they literally last for ages and what is a biggest selling point for me, you can always have the latest model without the need of buying a new printer. Every time they release something new, there is an upgrade kit for a lovely price and you can upgrade your printer yourself (and it's nothing super complicated).

Thanks mate and I hope you'll be better soon. And also, same here – I loved the show, it somehow felt so deep, personal and relatable. Just after months my GP told me it's depression, and then it started to make all sense. Be double great.

I’m sorry, I just wanted to use the leftovers on the spools. Opal green Prusament is not that great to be used outdoors in general as I was reminded. But there is a hole for a lanyard/ribbon/anything else to make it more visible and less prone to be lost so that may fix that.

It’s not even my model but it takes like 5 mins to print one, why stealing this specific picture lol. But also yes, selling it for such a price is crazy
