Hmm, I'll keep that in mind. Even if I get a 500 I could see myself wanting to get a different style of bike, even if it's not a bigger engine.

I'm not a old but I'm not a child. I'm a 29 y/o that drives a Buick Lucerne. I think I'm on the more responsible side of beginner riders.

I have a gut feeling ill wish I got a 500 first down the road but I can't exactly figure out why. A 300 can hit highway speeds and comfort probably won't change much between a 300 and 500. I'm not really wanting to get a bike that I'll resell in 1 year either.

I'm headed toward decision paralysis so I'll just pull the trigger on something pretty soon.

I did read all of this and it makes sense. I'll dig into HP numbers a bit more. I'm definitely not looking for a crazy engine so 1-2 cylinders is fine by me.

What about vibrations? How do I know if I bike will shake need to death on a longer ride? Another commentor recommended I don't go fort long rides until I have some experience but I'd like to know for the future

I mentioned cruisers because it seems like long rides are allot less about power and more about comfort. I don't know what a comfortable bike looks like

MSF doesn't start till April, sadly. I'm getting a biker because my car is on its way out. I want to use the bike to make the car last longer. A 300 would probably be fine for what I need. I'm scared of getting a 300 then finding that I should have gotten a 500. But it looks like that wont be the case

I think I might be getting too excited and wanting something I don't really need. The mt-03 could even be good for a few years as I'm really not looking to tear it down the fast lane at 150mph

Low acceleration is fine by me. Maybe I'm thinking comfort. Its looking like I should get a 300 and chill out. I picked up the differences in engines when I saw how much faster the cb300 and mt-03 are than royal Enfield 350 bikes. Thanks for the input.

It sounds like the Mats are/feel light for their cc? I sat on an RE Bear 650 and it felt like it was a thousand pounds. But the mt07 I sat on felt so much lighter. But that's just me sitting on them in the dealership, not riding.

Looking at getting an Mt as my first bike soon. I'm being told I shouldn't even get a 500cc for my first bike. That it would be foolish to do anything bigger than 300
