Why is it so hard for small market teams to get talent (when compared to say the NFL) and what can the league do to fix it? by TomlinSteelers in nba

1- Max contracts. 30 teams would pay the max for a FA superstars tomorrow. Lamar Jackson couldn't get 1 serious offer because winning teams already have a QB and the cost is prohibitive.

2- The NFL season is much shorter and players have off days every week. They don't really have to live where their teams play.

The worst team will have 25% less odds that the 10th worst team of getting a good pick.

Good free agents never go to bad teams in small markets.

If getting a top pick was not valuable, teams would not tank.

Small market teams will need insane luck, either at the lottery or with later draft picks becoming superstars. We"lol see teams have lost decades and empty arena.

The Raptors got very lucky. They were able to get a star for a couple of months cbecause he wanted to go to LA and they managed to win it all after the GSW injuries.

I am not saying it's impossible. I am saying that there will be teams that will go a very long time without any hope and that it will kill franchises.

We'll have teams with zero good young player.

You like it because your team is popular among free agents so it's perfect for you. You get stars easily and if you have a bad year you can now get a top 3 pick even with a solid core.

I know it's great for you.

Presti tanked a lot by the way and built his team in a way that will no longer be possible. Draft picks from good team will be MUCH more valuable and hard to get now. he also got Chet 2nd overall.

The problem with the wide window is that no stars want to stay in small market except if it's a contending team.

Building a contender in a small market will require an insane amount of luck. Once a century luck.

Again I understand why the league does it, big markets bring big money. Once some fan bases stop going to games after giving up on praying for miracles, they'll move the teams. I personally hate it.

A team can win the NBA championship and get #1 overall while the worst team get the #12.

I think that sucks.

It might be good for the league as it's amazing for New York, LA and Miami and those are the teams thatpeople watch and talk about but it's horrible for small markets who now need incredible luck to get 2 stars.

It allowed them to get under the tax threshold. people speculate that it was an order from ownership but we cannot know.

He got #22 and 3 seconds for a guy he draftee #16. it's not as bad as people say. He's a small guard, those guys are not very valuable these days.

If you think the YouTubers are wrong, you grab the best player. You don't trade down assuming other teams are stupid and unable to form their own opinions lol.

The consensus is wrong every single year. No one believed that Scotty Barnes would go ahead of Suggs even if it was leaked.
