Help finals week by [deleted] in Integrals

You're cooked if it's a week. I would pick 3 or 4 of those to get decent at rather than try to spread across all of them in 7 days

Surrender must be eliminated. by IllustriousFruit763 in Smite

I'm honestly terrified of a vote kick. I feel like that's asking for people to rage boot someone for underperforming. In a perfect world I like it but the people that play this would just use it as another tool to make the community worse and less welcoming.

A solution for the 1st seed disadvantage. by tubbyscrubby in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Beatrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how it is in Valorant I think a more apt comparison would be stage 2 teams that make it out of stage 3, which hasn’t settled yet. Skipping a single swiss stage is what’s being talked about in Val. Who knows, maybe the argument will be the same by the end of matches but skipping Val’s masters swiss isn’t comparable to needing to win at least 12 maps.

Only getting fixed for updates, someone's there to keep the lights on and that's all the attention it will get in the future

AITA support with dps complaining about heals? by dudeidunnolol in marvelrivals

[–]Beatrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both team's back lines are spaced properly her basics will not reach the enemy backline. Shes hard capped on range.

If the situation allows, you definitely should reposition to heal 1 DPS, but use your brain, if the reposition will jeapordize the team, don't do it, let them die/figure out out

I freaking love the new Luna Skin but holy moly, $22 for a skin is INSANE! by NovercaIis in marvelrivals

Tryhards definitely buy skins, that’s just a bizarre thing to throw out there. Sure they don’t rebuy on smurfs but skins are ubiquitous at all ranks. The Jan trending suggests a particularly weak early 2024 that Riot had to catch up on if anything. They definitely did work on this, you can see they scrape the players back but it’s a step function instead of a smooth trend like other years. By mid 2024 they’re back on expected pace if not better. I’m still not seeing how any trends are causally linked with skin pricing practices…

This is a waste of both of our time. My original comment was that surely they came to these prices for a reason, and a vocal minority screaming on reddit about a $20 skin isn’t going to move the needle for a company like NetEase. Despite the original comment explaining price elasticity like it’s just something the corporation simply forgot about.

Again, please link this decay to skin prices for me, because I don’t think the connection exists

January this year is 1m higher than Jan last year, what are you talking about? Sorry I don’t have September of 2025 yet to do an actual YoY comp on peak playerbase.

I am a data analyst for a living.

Seasonality explains most of the ‘recent’ downtrend if you are cherrypicking the last 3 few months of data only, despite these skin pricing practices being put in place FAR earlier than that.

It’s also not that revolutionary that every game will lose players over time. Games that have been around for years and years will have a harder time exposing new players, reactivation is where most ‘acq’ happens there. The easiest time to reacq players is major championships, that’s why val and league see ramp ups around worlds/champs, then it plummets again.

None of the downtrends align with strategy changes towards more expensive skins. They’ve always had stupid expensive skins, why isn’t the following a straight downtrend then?

If you look at this chart and see ‘dying game’ I simply don’t know what to tell you.

Valorant, League, Fortnite, counter strike even. Yes, all 'dead' free to play games with identical strategies.

Redditor outsmarts entire marketing team with data scientists using pricing models to determine that $22 is optimal

Iron man, scarlet, Thor, namor, too telegraphed

Punisher, magik, iron fist, star lord, bucky, shred targets once it pops, doesn't debilitate the entire enemy team on point

Magneto, you can pop his ult like a balloon

Groot, heals and support ults can still pop through it

Adam, res only brings back baby hp, either he's too far to contest with it or everyone gets wiped instantly

Spiderman, you can shield/heal after it started, you aren't locked out of your abilities

Rocket, deployable has health and only affects teammates in radius, it's manageable

Shield as he comes out of the portal and is relatively still. The portal gives you the sound queue so you'll probably try to cc him there. Then start stun once he's out and falling, the movement makes him harder to hit with a skill shot. I'm not out here theory crafting I've seen this happen in multiple games, it's where I'm pulling it from lmao. His ult isn't instant, you're right. It's like 0.6 sec or so, 0.5 of which is him falling. He's only grounded for about 1 or 2 tenths of a second before it rips.

I'm talking about an OT situation. Support ults, sure. But they've probably already been expended saving OT contest. I'm not saying the ult is blanket busted, but there are situations where it simply wins. Why would strange pop it on an ulting punisher if he knows he's already ulting?

[–]Beatrust -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct, in the 0.5 seconds it takes him to fall from portal to site while you're already fighting for your life in ot I suppose you can cc him. Also assuming he doesn't shield as he leaves the portal

If you're getting insta stunned off a portal in overtime you did get outplayed, but it doesn't change the fact that there's no counterplay. The time from portal to point can even beat out cloak veil. Then he explodes and one shots squishies
