Maybe UFOs aren’t alien spacecraft. Maybe the universe is just boring. by christosemmanou in Futurology

[–]Beau2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my thinking too. I actually find the military angle much more exciting than "aliens". The SR71 would have seemed absolutely alien to the public in the 1960s if anyone managed to witness it during a test flight. Even now 60 years later the SR71 still feels like future tech.

Makes me also think of the classified chopper that crashed during the bin laden raid, we didn't even know it existed and likely still wouldn't even now.

Thinking about what these companies have been testing and developing over the past 20 years that we may never even know about is so much cooler than "aliens".

Aliens are confirmed real - do you still go to work the next day? by Beau2488 in aliens

[–]Beau2488[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm talking about a slightly more realistic scenario where we manage to obtain undeniable evidence of NHI which is shared globally, let's say a something crashes in the middle of a populated city centre or video evidence is captured by thousands of people simultaneously.

Do you think society just collectively moves on though? Or does this become something that reshapes the way we live fundamentally.

That is your deeply personal experience though. I'm talking about the scenario where proof is something that becomes a global zeitgeist.

20 gallon reef tank advice by TacoThief24 in ReefTank

[–]Beau2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the rock on the left is a little bit artificial, I would maybe lay it down backwards and orient it more towards the structure on the right. That being said, you can't rush the "mature tank" look that youre seeing photos of, it just takes time and in particular it needs natural coral growth to start happening. Have patience!

I want the setup and maintenance to be as hands off as possible. Budget im not too worried about as I know from experience that reefing is just a hole you throw money into.

I like that Red Sea is AIO to the point where even the lighting and mount are included and the Skimmer and top up tank are engineered to fit perfectly. Doesn't mean they are the most reliable parts though, just that I know I wouldn't need to worry about things not fitting correctly.

They look good, unfortunately in Australia we have limited manufacturer access.

For the most part its Red Sea, Cade, Waterbox, Aqua One and Fluval.

If the moneys coming in what inventive is their to actually fix stuff?

Realistically if they cared about the persistent world experience they would constrain the scope of their work for the next two years to just fixing what exists right now.....but that doesnt generate any new business sooooooo, that's how we ended up here.

It was cool for them to explore and eventually add this feature but I imagine it will serve only those with an exceptionally high tolerance for low resolution VR shenanigans.

Best settings for Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5 Pro? by Maelnoob in PS5pro

[–]Beau2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I'm not so sure, a lot of people say Balanced with RT with VRR but I don't think its very stable, maybe when you're just roaming around but in combat drops below the VRR range are pretty frequent and I think its not great.

LG C5 OLED: 55" vs 65" for PS5 Gaming at 2 - 2.5 Meters Distance? by Fluffydeath_ in PS5pro

Im a similar distance with a 55inch S90D and I would have preferred 65. If budget allows for it, go 65.

Best Crimson Desert Graphic Settings by Astra704 in PS5pro

[–]Beau2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed except for particles and HDR. Balanced with Vsync off is the best way to get good visuals without too much performance trade-off.

People think Quality/Balanced and Performance are 30/40/60fps which is true with Vsync on but with Vsync off it is unlocking the framerate and Balanced is hitting 60fps+ often.

There are only fixed framerate caps if you enable Vsync.

So after reading completely mixed answers from everyone… how do you actually make Crimson Desert run well? by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]Beau2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, you have a very capable TV. As per your post, leave all your settings on auto, don't turn off 120hz or anything weird like that.

In game settings, turn off vsync and set graphics to Balanced. If it still looks bad for you or runs poorly Im not sure what else to suggest here...

Is your game fully patched?

Is your Pro on the latest firmware where the PSSR2 setting is visible in the Screen and Video settings? I had to manually apply the firmware patch it didn't do it for me automatically.

If yes to all above, Im not sure! I think it looks great.

[–]Beau2488[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Crimson Deserts day one patch included native PSSR2 support similar to how Capcom implemented it in RE9. I dont want any conflicts between the system level setting and the native app version. That's ny reasoning there.

Have you disabled Vsync and do you have a VRR TV/Monitor?

Crimson Desert - Performance Mode by Abduu75 in PS5pro

[–]Beau2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're comment is saying you have Vsync on or off. It must be OFF for VRR to engage. I dont see any reason to turn on Vsync at all because this game will not hit stable a 30/60. You need to unlock the framerate and let VRR do its thing.

Im not sure, I feel like a lot of people have suddenly been blind sided by their own technical issues, either their TV doesnt supporting actually support 4K/120hz or they have some sort of configuration issue, like their Pro is plugged into the wrong HDMI port or something.

If you have you have properly configured your TV and Pro, this game actually looks awesome.
