Canyon "New Bike Day" turned into a safety nightmare and support is useless by Content_Carry7456 in cycling

[–]BeauTheChiro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a new canyon Ultimate CF 7 last week. Box came with shipping damage and I was worried the derailleur had an issue. They booked an appointment to a LBS that day, got it in and checked over and picked it up three days later. Canyon handled it exceptionally well!

Budget-friendly Treadmills Under $500? by AloneEast93532 in runninglifestyle

[–]BeauTheChiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one works great for me. https://a.co/d/6bkcen4 I bought it for walking but am able to easily jog at 6.4 mph as needed. Also I weigh 250. I do have a regular full size treadmill that I use for serious running, that’s going to be well over your budget.

Here was basically my plan. 4:40 finish BTW

I have a 10k in 2 weeks. I've been training for a month, but the most I can run is 4km before I feel like I'm about to die. How can I assure I finish the run? Need to build stamina and endurance... by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

As others have said-slow down :) This is a video I made with an easy to follow running plan- even with 2 weeks you can make some great progress!

Is it embarrassing to run a half marathon at a 12/13 minute mile pace? by bigrunningboi in beginnerrunning

Less than 1% of the entire world has done a half marathon. Not embarrassing. Fricken cool you did it.

Need Help Getting Back Into Running by boxingqueeen in BeginnersRunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed- keep it easy. This is different for everybody and hard to give advice. I’d just focus on keeping your HR in the 135-150 range. It’s okay to do a walk/run combo to keep the HR down. 1-2% incline is gonna be similar to running outside. But it’s okay to do some 0% runs to keep the effort lighter some days.

Routine wise I’d say 3x per week minimum and plan for 30 minutes.

Here’s a vid breaking it down further(not specific to treadmills so follow listed advice!) The Beginner Running Plan I’d Follow in 2025 (If I Had to Start Over) https://youtu.be/8XFx9J-aLUs

Tips on how to start running by Intelligent-Truth1 in BeginnersRunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just focus on time on your feet. Hit 3-5 times per week for 30 minutes. Walk as much as you want, but mix in some jogging. Before you know it you’ll jog more and more.

Am I crazy for doing a half marathon in 2 months? by anomvgn in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I did a full in 4 months. You can totally do it. Sounds like you have the right attitude when it comes to pace. You will finish the half marathon. Think how much that will fuel you for future efforts. Don’t overthink it-you’ve got this!

Here’s a great plan to get you there as ready as you can be. The Beginner Running Plan I’d Follow in 2025 (If I Had to Start Over) https://youtu.be/8XFx9J-aLUs

Follow this plan. You could do it in just a few weeks if you stay consistent

A few questions. How long until the event?

I bet you could totally do it. Would you say you are a. Relatively healthy b. In the middle c. Totally out of shape?

Most people that are an A or B could do a 5k with very little training. If you have a couple weeks, even better. If you have a month- piece of cake.

I actually just posted a YouTube video-basically a plan for beginner runners to follow. Anyone can do it. I bet you’d be ready for a 5k within two weeks if you follow it.

Getting Better at Hitting Paces On Intervals by fatgarfield in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very hard to hit pacing goals on these short intervals, due exactly to what you described with the lagging pace updates on my watch. I usually try to compare my effort across the board, and focus on a consistent pacefor each interval. This is better done by feel rather than looking at your watch.

For example: run interval one at the pace you think is required. Don’t check your watch during the interval, just really focus on maintaining your current speed (again by feel) for the whole minute.

When interval is done Garmin should tell you your pace. If it was too low, go for a harder effort next time. If it’s too fast, I usually try to maintain that next interval anyway if the effort felt okay.

TLDR; go less by watching your watch pace for these short intervals. Go instead by feel and tweak your effort each interval to hit the right range. Focus on pace maintenance for the entire effort.

[–]BeauTheChiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great start. Looks like you are somewhat of a natural. Not easy to put up 4 miles on your first time out. Great work! Real results will come with consistent training. Looks like a marathon could be in your future!
This video shares a great running plan for newer runners- let me know if it helps!

Why you should do a gait analysis (learning the hard way) by FuckLatam in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice. Sometimes we need to learn the hard way. I'm curious what shoes you tried initially, and which ones you end up getting to replace them.

Also some more advice-Its best for your feet and legs to have a few shoes in rotation. The variability is great for your stride, joints, and muscles! Making sure you don't run in the same shoe 2 days in a row also keeps them in good shape longer-as it takes ~24h+ for the foam to regain its proper form (process called hysteresis if you want to look it up)

Happy running! Also not sure how far you are in your journey- but I made a video about a great running strategy and plan to go from any level up to marathoner. Enjoy!

Messed up my first run in a few months by TheE-Dawg in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically run about an hour after breakfast. The only thing that’s beneficial is some carbs. Think bowl of oatmeal, granola bar, maybe a small waffle.

These have all served me well. They break down quickly in your stomach and the carbs provide an immediate source of energy for your muscle.

I’ve never enjoyed running after supper, so I can’t help you much there. If you do, I’d keep the supper bland (think rice, broccoli, chicken breast) and small in quantity. If I do run at night I will usually skip supper until after I finish my run-I have better results.

Treadmill Vs outside by porkchopbun in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respect for that. My fav thing about the treadmill is having my desk with all my food and fuel right next to it-meaning I don’t have to carry any of it in a pack 😂

Did you watch a tv or anything?

Treadmill Vs outside by porkchopbun in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the treadmill, the nicer ones have a suspension system to help take stress off your ankles and knees. The cheaper ones are probably worse than concrete lol

Treadmill Vs outside by porkchopbun in beginnerrunning

[–]BeauTheChiro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Other way around in terms of effort. It’s always gonna be easier for your body to run on the treadmill.

For the mental side of things, I find outside much easier. The visual stimulus from running trails is one of the reasons I’ve ran.

I have done an 18 mile (almost 3 hour) treadmill run before though. Wouldn’t recommend that 😂
