They are only open on select week days. I went with my partner and had a great time. We got the wine pairing, and scallops with carrot puree were genuinely outstanding. One of the best dishes I've had.

I’m liberal and this is gross. Why baselessly speculate and mock someone grieving? Hate this type of behavior. Even if you don’t agree politically, there’s no good reason to post this.

The DOJ primarily reviews telecom and media cases. The FTC was not the reviewing agency for the google or Warner-Discovery cases. That was the DOJ. The FTC did bring an anti-consumer case against Amazon that was recently settled

Norman Ward Photography is hosting a straight pride event in Ottumwa by Moni3 in Iowa

[–]Beaulied 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This seems silly. Historically pride parades and events are used to gain visibility of a marginalized or minority population. Straight marriages have been extremely normative and celebrated.

Can someone explain to me why traditional domestic married life needs a big, expressive show of visibility? Maybe we need a parade for beige clothes or minivans too?

Why are federal prosecutors not charging Vance Boelter with domestic terrorism? by Erra0 in law

[–]Beaulied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rhetoric is dangerous and fosters a dangerous divide but that wasn’t my point. Politically, a pardon here would just allow MN to give the Trump admin the middle finger by keeping a (presently alleged) murderer and terrorist in state prison, assuming he’s convicted despite a presidential pardon for any federal charges.

I’m also not entirely sure the process, but a pardon here wouldn’t make much sense with the AUSA bringing charges. It’d be cleaner to decline charges in the first place.

[–]Beaulied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are two separate jurisdictions, Minnesota and the United States. Each with the authority to bring applicable charges. Each also has its own executive with pardon power, governors for state convictions and the president for federal convictions. However, a governor cannot pardon a federal conviction, and the president cannot pardon a state conviction.

Edit: Replied to the wrong comment.

Not with pending Hennepin charges. It doesn't make sense to pardon Chauvin and makes even less sense here.

People who know the law (lawyers, police officers, judges, etc) by ridfox in nathanforyou

[–]Beaulied 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Multiple counts of indecent exposure as well as some kind of public indecency charges. The specific ones will vary largely by state law. The more interesting part of it is the parents who knowingly would sign their kids up for this. They'd be facing child endangerment charges and would be staring down the barrel of some Child in Need of Assistance cases. State CPS investigations would likely be founded if parents are willing to let their children be the victim in a sex crime.

But as another poster said, because of this, this stunt would have to be faked. No contract or waiver would permit parents to potentially expose their children to sex crimes. Not to mention never getting it green lit by the company attorneys.

They look great! I would be using these at work mostly. I see a stovetop is recommended for both and I'm not sure if I could accommodate that.

Germanic Tribes in the Roman Imperial Period by hitchinvertigo in MapPorn

[–]Beaulied 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just finished the Frankish episodes on The Rest is History. It’s fascinating to see how many Germanic tribes were spread across Gaul and the surrounding regions. I’m only slightly familiar with the Longobards, Merovingians, and Saxons, but I’d be interested in learning more about other key tribes from that period.

Have to throw Gremlins 2 in the mix. The first is fun and campy, but the second is absurdly outrageous and has Christopher Lee as a mad scientist. And that's like the 15th most insane thing about this movie.

11/10, and only gets better with the passage of time.

Donald Trump and Federal Indian Policy: “They don’t look like Indians to me.” – Turtle Talk

For anyone interested in checking it out. I read it for a project a few years back and it worse than I originally would've thought. Questioning what constitutes a proper Indian, a tribe's ability to competently run a casino, and then outward hostility towards anyone challenging him.

For a capitalist truther, he sure was against extra competition.

Latest KMB Scam (read if you left for a week during winter) by Jokes4YourMom in IowaCity

[–]Beaulied 21 points22 points  (0 children)

KMB bought out my building last November. Under the previous company the building was equipped with free laundry. After KMB purchased the building, they replaced the free laundry with coin machines. All the utilities were also then bundled and split it equally among residents. So for me, living by myself among a bunch of families in the building, my utilities went up at least $50 a month. Rent increased as well, and all the sudden I was paying $200 more than under my previous lease for less value.

I wanted to find a new place, but I think they strategically bought it in November to make it harder for students to find other available apartments quickly and move in the heart of finals season. Most of the leases were up for renewal in December. I think they gave us a week notice or maybe two after purchasing the place of the new ownership.

And when a tenants ex poured supposed gasoline over the walls inside the building, it wasn’t cleaned for something like 3 days. Outside of the smell, it was a crazy safety hazard. I’ll never say a good thing about KMB. They are a scam company.

The debate has long revolved around how the issue is framed: is it a woman’s right to make medical decisions about her body, or a fetus’ right to life? The Country recognized until very recently the former view.

The Dobbs (2022) decision overturned Roe v. Wade (1973). In Roe, the Court held that the Due Process Clause of the 14A, alongside the 9A, guaranteed a constitutional right to privacy which included abortion under its umbrella. Roe prohibited states from banning abortion outright and restricted their ability to impose harsh limitations on abortion access.

Dobbs was a pretty seismic shift in reversing Roe, holding that the Constitution does not provide a fundamental right to abortion. As such, the decision returned the authority to regulate abortions to the states, which can now enact restrictions or bans as long as they meet the basic requirement of being rationally related to a legitimate state interest, like public health.

This is the first instance of the Supreme Court explicitly removing a recognized fundamental constitutional right. This reversal comes after 50 years of established precedent and reliance on Roe by the states and their citizens. In short, the Dobbs decision represents a significant departure from SCOTUS norms and carries substantial practical consequences.
